Spainish Skeleton ships and French pvp ships

The defeating of the pirates of the French pvp ships, I have to sink 5 French Ships with a cannon, and I keep on getting sunk before I reach two ships or one, I think its because I been out on my own, and the French pvp ships are higher levels then me. I think I need help on this
