Amiela's Helpful Hints!

Here are some random tips for POTCO.
And if you have questions, feel free to post, i'll reply ASAP!

When taking down a large ship, shoot cannons from far away, that way, you get most of its health down before the enemy broadsides hit you.

It's always good to have a 'healing buddy' with you in dangerous places.

Use skill points on what skill you use the most.

Don't take on too many enemies at once, even if they are lower level then you.

Start out keeping your weapons around the same level, it will pay off in the end!

Make sure you have a good crew when privateering!

Red enemies are great for earning rep, but make sure they aren't too high, otherwise, you might die!

I know these are pretty much basic knowledge, but I will add more as I go along.

take out ther sails with lighting and they will never get close for a broadside , then sink them w cannon good rep builder.

The only way to see what cheat cards you have is to be in a blackjack or hold'em game, and look when you have opportunity to swap cards.

does swapping cards work? is there a method or what? i did it once (when i was a super newbie) and was caught cheating.

Wildwood 07-07-2008 10:57 PM

One good way to get caught cheating is when you swap a card that is out on the table. Like you swap your 2nd card for a 7 of diamonds and then the turn card is the 7 of diamonds. If that happens...FOLD. You might not get caught cheating that way.

There is a post on card cheating already, but basically use the best odds in your favor. That would mean cheat when you can see the most possible cards in your favor and you have less chance a pulling a card on the table, or blackjack.

Best rep is shooing sails and then using broadsides. Beware though shooting ships at a distance with lightning, wait until it reaches your radar before the final shot. Else you will likely get nothing for it out of range.

As for other skills alter them in the same way like the ship and cannon, you get more rep and work several at once. Use less damaging attacks and more of them.

Yea, when cheating avoid using a card that is already out on the table and usually always works with black jack

For cannons destroying the sails seems to give more rep and using grappling hook about 5-10 times should give about 50-100 rep

sailing i haven't found anything for yet but when i do ill post it on here

Tonic Question

Is there a way to choose which tonic gets utilized when in battle, or is it just a random chance which one gets used?:candycorn:

The tonic you get is based on how many health points you have left. If you're barely injured you get the weakest tonic you're carrying. If you're about to visit jail you'll get the strongest tonic you're carrying.

Each type of tonic comes in a different looking bottle. The tonic that will be used appears on the Tonic button at the bottom to the right of the weapon controls. The program tries to match the tonic to the amount of health you need.
