digging up treasure chests?
 

Anyone know how to find treasure chests to dig up?

I have run across 2 chests in the game at random times and dug up 20 coins each time. Now I have a quest from a townsperson to dig up a chest and find a gold earing and get 150 coins for doing so but I have no idea how to find a chest. Do you just run all over and hope you run across one or is there a way yo locate a chest?

It seems it is random as well SuperSitch. I was lucky enough to run over 1 of the locations that had a chest. Lucky you that you found 2. :P I have been around in random areas trying to find other ones.

as it is I did run across another chest and recovered the earring and got the 150 coins, woot.

I also just noticed that in my vault of treasures I have a couple items that I do not even know how I got them. Can't remember now what one was but the other was gold cuff links................hmmm

The chests do not change locations, so make a note to yourself where they are and you can return to them as needed.

i've (barely) noticed that every once in awhile there will be some blue text across the bottom of the screen telling me i found some item after killing a monster. so there are some rare random loot drops. the blue text is not very large or readable and only flashes for like a second and it's gone. there is nothing in the chat log about it either.

I've barely noticed that myself, I saw it once only but I have at least 10 items in my treasure things.

Wow im way behind me mates i see but i just found the earring ye speak of from a buried treasure chest on the path into elizabeths mansion then said "quest complete". i was waiting to see me gold count go up but it didnt include the 150 pieces! Me journal says i must go back and see Sam Seabones. Anyone of you swabbys remember seeing him around? I was sure he was at the pub in Tortuga but now i can't seem to find him.....:) :confused:

He is on Port Royal walking back and forth between the beach to the left of the drydock(facing the water) and the grassy entrance that leads to the mansion.

The bad news is a lot of the quests that want you to dig something up or search for something have random locations. That is, where you found the quest item on one toon may not be the same as where your next toon will find it.

The good news is the location of all searchable/diggable spots are fixed and never change, so you'll learn them all over time.

Aye, thankee! found him and started the same quest again (150gold) ....then i got this widescreen display and all the stats were gone. i couldn't Tab the page either. Down at the bottom it said something like..."ready for some honest plundering" ..then a little grey box to the bottom right that said next....Well i couldnt get my mouse up to click next and eventually crashed there on the beach. Anyone else seen this bare screen?

I had a favorite location where I'd dig up a chest containing 20 gold pieces whenever I passed that way. Since the new release that chest has contained no gold (or anything else).

Is this common now for all chests, or did I just hit a bad one?

Only chest I've found is one outside the Governer's Mansion, but it's empty.

Then again, I've only played a total of 15 minutes without lag, so...

that funny.. i might be bugged but i have only been able to dig in each spot once.. all other times its empty or says nothing found..

I had been really racking up the coins with those chests. As of yesterday all of the ones I know of are not paying anymore. I know of three around the governor's house, one by the building before you get to the ship builder's on Port Royal, and I have found lots in the forest at various times.

I found 7 or 8 locations on Port Royal alone - including some in jungles - none are giving out any coins anymore :( BUT if you go to Lucinda on Port Royal and get her clean beach quest AND lost chart quest, I find that I go back and kill one skeleton and get 40 coins from her - one for beach clean up and one for chart - takes about the same amount of time as it did to dig up a chest :cool:
