Windows 2003 Users
For those of us, though probably very few, who use Windows 2003 Server as a workstation and have been receiving: "There was a problem verifying the Account ID" errors when trying to log in, here is a work around that I figured out. It's a simple fix, and some users probably already have it disabled. This error message can also be received by having incorrect time settings, but in this case, it's a Win2k3 specific "bug". It's not so much a bug, as a protection method packaged in with Win2k3 to make it more "hardened". I had actually seen the method for un-hardening IE some time ago, but had never taken the time to actually do it and I was actually doing something unrelated to Pirates Online, removed IE hardening and thought "well, maybe that will fix Pirates too?" Sure enough, it worked!
What you need to do is disable "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security". It's the culprit. Simply go to control panel -> add/remove programs -> add/remove windows components Scroll down until you find "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security" and click Details Uncheck the 2 boxes that you will see there. Click Ok Click Ok Let it uninstall and you're done. Simple fix for an issue that was driving me insane. I doubt that many people will be interested in this bug, as not many people are running Windows 2003 as a workstation, but you may be like me, and find down time at work to mess around. Cheers |
