How long does it take to get a name in game? I mean a name that has to be apporved since you typed it in. Just wondering because I would love to get my name soon instead of always being called shaky.

Don't bother, it won't happen. There's no point in Disney wasting the manhours to approve names in beta when the characters are going to be wiped at a moment's notice. Just use one of the pick 'em names.

Hippos right guys.. with Beta they wouldnt do it unless it was test the feature once or twice, but remeber at any given time they can kill the database and we all start off new again, plus all our accounts will get killed in month anyways before the game go lives and we have to start paying...

I was wondering if they would approve because I've seen two female pirates with names not in the name generator.

I have seen a few people with names not in the generator as well. I am still hoping to get mine approved!

They are approving names. It took only three days and my name was approved.

See, I don't know if you should pick a name. I mean, if you pick one and don't make one up, you might be stuck with it. And I know I wouldn't want to make another pirate if all my stuff is on the one with the picked name. Unless, staff can change your name. But I wouldn't bother them with that just yet.
