Well, because of the way I'd organically added to my skills, my regular explosives was maxed. And because of the way grenades works, you quite literally CAN'T use them up close without killing yourself.
That being said, I'd gotten to level 15 at Kingshead. And I managed to eke through 5 more levels by being judicious with hex shot and mollusks at Tormenta. But rep per-enemy was ridiculously small.
As such, I exploited a wall glitch in the Catacombs. It allows you to pop out on a ledge above the lowest level (before the entry to the Quarry) or to walk outside the map, come around, and drop back down into the lava pit on the second level just across from the hologram of Jolly Roger (you can actually walk out over to Roger too).
In the lava pit, it's pretty much identical to the fence at Kingshead. Most of the time they can't get through, so you can build a mob out of the three main groups.
You chuck a grenade at the mercenary and the raider in the back. Then at the two navy soldiers and the raider in the middle, then at the officer and the raider in front of you. As they bunch up together, you simply lob grenades in on them. With one point in stink pot and fire bomb, I'd pull about a hundred rep every time and use about 10 grenades. |
