My Grenade Build...

Well recently I have been going by the guide for grenades, but really what skills are worth it? I'm only level 12 nades.

Throw - 1/5
Long Volley - 1/5
Explosive - 1/5
Stink Pot - 1/5
Fire Bomb - 1/5
Smoke Bomb - 1/5
Determination - 5/5(Definitely need this 50% Health recovery rate)
Demolitions - 0/5(Is it worth it)
Toughness - #/5
Ignore Pain - #/5

Don't be like me and jack up your explosive skill right off the bat, I'm at level 39 and just got the 'nades to level 20.

Demolitions isn't worth it IMO, too big a blast radius and you have a hard time blasting baddies without getting killed yourself.

Cloudburst 06-05-2008 11:09 PM

That's what I thought acounting 5/5 siege charge would kill you in an instant. What bombs should I max and what passive skills?

Chris 06-05-2008 11:23 PM

the last two passive are very good the ignore pain mainly bc u can get rid of that stupid slow walk faster and toughness so u dont take as much damage from nades and cannons

Cloudburst 06-05-2008 11:55 PM

Nice so definetly save skill points to max out those skills?

Yes.

Grenades are so powerful that anything more than 3 points in them is overkill. That and they aren't very practical. Take advantage of the passive skills. If you really want big damage max out Flame Skull on the Voodoo staff.

Cloudburst 06-06-2008 01:54 AM

I will once I get the voodoo staff and by the way what is the Voodoo staff quest called?

Wheelsim 06-12-2008 06:53 PM

Passive skills are the most important dont forget that.

panda_baby 06-13-2008 03:59 PM

Just wondering if anybody knows if the passive skill that says "decreasing the damage suffered from grenade and cannon by whatever percent", does that apply to the damage suffered by your ship by cannons when u do sailing, or just the damage your character suffers when getting hit by a cannon (which I do not think ever happens).

Here's mine, if it helps at all. I'm one point up, as you can see. However, as I like the nades, I picked a build where I can utilize as many as possible while leveling as fast as possible. Stink Pot has a wide effect area, and can pull in many officers/veterans at Kingshead. Believe it or not, I'm thinking to take off a point of Determination, as it'd be a quick fix, and health mightn't need to come back that fast. However, I'm willing to drop a point from Toughness as well, and, if you pushed my buttons, I could drop one from Demolitions.

I'm also planning to put on 5/5 in Barrage for the sea barrel, but that's me.

save ur point , keep ur skill low u get more reps faster to lvl. gnades now lvl 25

I tried pvp for the first time the other night and my complete lack of passive skills and some of the buffs that seem unimportant in open play became tragically clear.

I'm at lvl 37 - but was annihilated in seconds by a lvl 31 who used stun and then sliced me to pieces before the effects wore off. The result was a commitment to make better use of skill points to keep my pirate balanced for pvp or open play.

This is effected dramatically by point assignment in grenades.

Davy Redflint has given you some good advice. Keep points out of the actual grenade slots to earn more rep for each kill (multiplied when working with a crew for the crew bonus or those ever so fleeting times when Disney blesses us with a bonus period). You can keep those points in "the bank" until you max out the weapon and then place them in for greater damage.

Also, the more rep per kill the faster you will increase in levels - which will allow you to buy the larger belts (to carry more grenades, to kill more enemies). I am laboring hard to get to level 17 to increase the number of grenades I can carry each trip to Tormenta.

Last tip - in Tormeta shoot a Molusk with Hex Eater until he's unable to attack (I have five points in hex eater and it takes three shots to render them incapacitated). Once they can't fight back you can lob your low damage level grenades at them for the most rep. With a crew bonus a lvl 37 or 38 Molusk will give you 120-130 rep using this tactic.

I wouldn't get to carried away with what you have seen in one pvp with someone using cutlass. There are a lot of glitches out especially with cutlass in the pvp. Including hitting from across the room, which I have done myself testing it out.

I suppose it will just be argued, but grenades is not the only thing you can do that with to gain more rep. As for hex eater I wouldn't recommend waisting that many points into it, 3 or less is efficient. It would also depend if you took aim.

If you are going to Tormenta, learn how to line up two molusk and get double the rep per use of grenades.

As for grenade and cannon damage decrease, I think that will become more apparent as we start into ship battles.
