No non-English words...
I had the urge last night to make a new pirate with a Chinese lineage. I went through character creation and I ended up quite pleased with how my pirate turned out. Then came the option to name my pirate. I refuse to use the pre-chosen names so I made one up
"Hoang Bien" Yes it's a Japanese name (it was late last night) but I liked the definitions: Ocean and Phoenix. This morning I logged in, and with a sigh, found that my name was rejected. So I just got back from reading their naming policy when I was just about to try a Chinese name. After reading the naming guidelines I know this one will be rejected. Quote:
My other pirates are:
So, are those English words? Well, discuss, I guess... |
Well my pirates name is Tokidoki Kawaii, which are the words for Sometimes Cute in Japanese. I guess that didn't sound non-english to the people that approved it. I don't think that rule is very fair, because you're right, your other pirate names aren't real english words either.

those names are not of any known language so they just classify it as english |
Weird, I just saw a pirate named Hiju Huang in PDF :(
|
Really wierd, I say Hola and Bonjour to people a lot and I never got The Ban, and I even see people talking in another language for an entire conversation. I wonder what Disney has against naming pirates non english names when I sometimes talk like that (as a different way to say hi)....
|
um no offense but its a good rule i mean everybody who plays this game speaks english and if u use a name or speak in a different language no one will understand you or ur name

Once I had a guild member named Li somethin - she would sign online, say Habla Espanol? or something like that. Me and my friend eric would say no, and she would sign straight off.
She did this like, every day for a week or something, and then I never saw her again... Not sure if she quit the guild or what. [Lol, sorry for not being specific] |

Lucrecia, will you be my new BFF? We have the same awesome taste in Chinese movie heroes.
Anyways... Was out taking care of a Dread Scorp problem on Outkast with a fellow pirate friend of mine a week or so ago and there was a whole BAND of pirates with Chinese names. If they can give us the great Sao Feng (bows respectfully in regards) then you should be able to have your OWN Singaporean (that a word?) plunderer. For $10 a month anyway. Give 'em Hades. |
I wish this wasn't a rule, seeing as I'm mostly French I could come up with a great name. But Giselle is pretty much as close as I could get. But in some ways it's a good rule because then staff would know the appropriateness of the word.

I understand the reason for the rule. As usual, Disney's lack of consistency causes confusion amongst thier customers.
I have seen (and heard of) foriegn names of pirates in the game of questionable meaning. Stuff Disney would not allow if they knew what it meant (Isnt that the reason for the rule?) There is the possibility the name is already taken, which may be the actual reason for the rejection, OR it may be that one name reviewer in customer service didnt like it, try it again, the next might because I've also heard of people trying a name twice, having it rejected one day, trying again, and having it accepted a few later. If you make a mistake and request it twice, they may reject it for that reason too ive been told. Zeppers lvl40 http://pirates.teamofx.us |
I had a pirate named Long Feng and a prior one named Miles Glorioso. They're each only half English... one is based off Miles Gloriosus and the other a certain character.

Resubmit the name. It may get approved on the second try.
|
Yes, try it again. Hell, my pirate is French, and nobody's had a problem yet. Although, I haven't spoken any french to anyone in-game....mostly because my french is terrible! LOL
|
I second the resubmit. They rejected my Parris Hillton, but accepted Paris Hillton ROFL.
