Phantom flagship?

I was sailing around the far eastside of Port Royal...maybe far eastside of Tortuga..and I ran across a Phantom with a flag over it. It looked like a tattered, old pirate flag. The Phantom sunk when I killed it and I didn't have a chance to try and board....hung around for a while but another didn't show up. I have pics, but can't post until later. Anyone see these sailing around? Are we going to have Undead Flagships to board? Sweet......

I'd read about them here in conversations regarding seeking the elusive, and to many of us still legendary "Undead Captains". A couple posts mentioned that if you were lucky enough to find and board a Harbinger flag ship (never seen one, perhaps you did!) that they had "Undead Captains" at the helm.

I had thought these were likely things still only found on test servers, but perhaps its just extremely rare?

I have never seen one, but I look forward to it....

I look forward to any flagship additions really. I don't really like the reduced number; it just leads to camping, rather than a natural sailing route. I don't mind camping off a coast when I'm working on Cannon, but otherwise I like to sail...or rather "outsail the enemy." Usually I like to do a bit of both Cannon and Sailing, so I need ships that can take a pounding or they're ready board too soon.

Black Harbinger flagships sure would be fun, and it'd be even nicer if they added Navy Predator & EITC Corsair flagships, plus Navy Dreadnaught & Monarch, and EITC Warlord & Ogre.

Patiently anticipating the photo :)!

If they do bring skelly flags to the game it would be nice. Ive been waiting for that.

Same here.

Also waiting for a "Dutchman" type flagship crewed by the Tormentia baddies. Imagine trying to board a ship with a Seabeard Brawling you, a Mollusk Life Draining you and an Urchinfist dropping bombs.

Me too! I gotta see the pic! :D

I'll have to do some hunting later :)

Captain Fireskull 05-13-2008 09:46 PM

and has anybody noticed, It seems that the level of the ship orresponds to the crew, Ive boarded 3 kingfishers today, levels 22, 23 and 23. the captains were guards level 7/8 and al the rest were officers level 22 (for the level 22 ship) and 23(for the level 23 ships).

I dont think thats it Fire, Angel spends alot of her ingame time soloboarding the colossous flag. Ive received from lvl 9's to lvl 37's. I'm tryin to figure out how they determine it but I dont think its the weapon or the notoriety lvl.

I would also like to see a Flying Dutchman included as well. Give us a great challenge!!!

Hmmm...this might be a double post....but anyway.

Sorry it's not the best quality and resolution, but this is what i got. level 29 i think. would've got a closer pic, but didn't want to sink and was a little busy with the cannons.:laughks2:

So you were telling the truth. They need to add different and higher lvl flags to the game, the same old ships are getting a little boring. But that's a very interesting discovery, and if I happen to come across one, I'll be sure to post a screenie ASAP. :)

Steely Jim 05-14-2008 09:13 AM

Well, that's very cool. I'm not sure which I find more intriguing--the mere existence of a skeleton flagship, or the fact that the Phantom flagship seems to have been beefed up about 10 levels over non-flag versions. I'll be keeping a weather eye on the horizon, for any signs of skeleton flagships.

CrimsonRabbit 05-14-2008 05:00 PM

It very well could've been a level 19. I was tired and not paying too much attention...all I was thinking about was disabling and boarding....

Angel 05-14-2008 09:26 PM

I think it might be a glitch on ur end. I took the pic and zoomed in and dont see a name above the "lvl 19 War Frigate". Usually it would say Phantom with the flag above that. Considering you havent been able to grapple and board, then it might be a glitch. Did you get the pop-up saying "grapple the ship"? Even when a flag sinks the grapple popup comes up still.

CrimsonRabbit 05-14-2008 10:34 PM

That's a good point....and no, I didn't get the grapple message.
