questions about basic access

so far i've really enjoyed this game. but it seems because i only have basic access, i can't continue on... is this right?

my notoriety is level 9, and my pistol, cutlass, and voodoo doll are level 4. i've completed the totem teleport quest for Tia Dalma, but don't seem to have the totem, and can't teleport. is this because only paid members can teleport?

also, i've completed the Pidgley quests for Carver (or whatever his name is, the bartender on Tortuga,) and now when he tells me to go back to Joshamee Gibbs, it says something about "unlimited access only" and it won't let me talk to him.

there are no other quests in my journal so... does this mean i have to start paying?

Basic members are only allowed to follow the quests so far. As a matter of fact, that level 4 voodoo doll wasnt possible for basic accounts last month! They've obviously extended the length of time basic members are allowed to follow the quests. Im not sure where they start to prompt you now (and stop allowing progress), it used to be when you got the voodoo doll quest. I do know that basic accounts are only allowed to follow the quests 'so far'. Once you get to that point, all you can do is pillage and plunder with the weapons at hand. I believe you can get to at least level 12 notoriety, im not sure what level weapons are limited to.

Where you have a lock on your skills you cant go any further. I also know you lose alot of reps being basic compared to a paying full access member.

In a word, yes. If you want to advance any further in game, time to give Disney some cash :)
