POTCO Should Go Back to Beta Ship Launch/Dock Interface!
 

If you think POTCO needs to go back to the Beta 1 Launching and Docking Interface, vote Yes! A brief overview of Beta 1:

To launch a ship, you had to walk up and talk to a dock attendant. You launch your ship from him, and 5 seconds later it appears next to the dock. Your crew stands next to the ship and boards it. If your ship is not moved within 30 seconds, it disappears.

When you dock your ship, you drive up close to the port you wish to dock at and drop your anchor. Your ship stays out in the ocean, so you can easily access your ship. When you are not on your ship, it cannot be attacked by enemy ships.

To exit your ship, you simply walk to the edge, press Shift, and it drops you into the water. Then you go ahead and swim to shore.


I loved this interface, partly because we could shoot cannons at enemies on land:dancetl6:. I still like this interface because I feel it is more user-friendly and is much more realistic.

It sound like total fun! More realistic, too.

i dont know much about beta one but from what i read that sounds awesome!!! if it is exactly as u say then YES! i want it back

Im curious as to how it handled the volume of ships that the docks would require assuming there are lots of pirates/players/ships out there?

sounds cool...kinda like potbs too. Also would be nice to see your crew rowin out in the dingy on the loading screen to your ship.

I said yes for the big island like : Port Royal , Tortuga , Kingshead, Padres.. because there is dock on these island.

But, for the small island like : Perdida, Tormenta, Outcast, I said no because there is no dock on the small island. (we'll take the rowboat like right now)

1. They would zap your ship away in 20 seconds in beta.
2. For the Open server, they would need two large docks.

Anyone else going to vote? I will submit the URL of this poll to POTCO in an effort to get this interface back. There were very few glitches with it too!

There were lots of bug with this method of boarding ship during beta one.
It's cool but the bugs were annoying it's not worth it.

I like the new way, I didn't like it at first but I do now (I did get to experience it for myself in beta). It's much easier to find a dinghy than running to a dock and talking to a bot. Plus I don't see how the old method would work for the islands that don't have docks. Also it would be a bit annyoing to pull up to an island and not be able to "park" where you want because the spot is taken by someone else.
