Did anyone read the release notes?

(Uh, sorry if someone's posted this already. I'd be surprised if anyone hasn't.)

Modified the way NPC's target their attackers: they used to attack the person that first attacked them, but will now switch between attacking the person doing the most damage, as well as others nearby that are doing damage.
I'm very excited about this one. Now the answer to all those leeches is to just walk away and have their plan backfire as the enemy advances on them! Finally, POTCO listened!

I know right! It's about time those lower lvl bilge rats learn a thing or 2. Higher lvls have their revenge!

Eustace the Monk 05-03-2008 11:21 PM

I agree, somewhat. The new targeting will even hit you if you are just running by though. I was wandering along, letting someone get their rep, then all of a sudden, it agged to me. I would hate to be the one trying to gold farm on KH now. Looks like I can't help anyone with that anymore.

Had this today this lvl 10 with a cutlass was following me around fort dundee i was hitting some officers and all if his lower lvl friends teleported in as well, and the offcier with one sweep took them all out, i laughed so much.

ohhmyylantaa 05-03-2008 11:25 PM

Ah, I just realized that with this gator. Quite annoying. But honestly, I'd rather have it this way. I don't mind having to be careful were I step as long as no one can get my rep for free.

AdmiralSavvy 05-03-2008 11:30 PM

The only downfall of this is helping guildimates lvl up, a place like Kingshead or Tormenta wouldn't be strongest attack first and be the only one hit while your partner lvls up. It's going to be harder now keeping things in order while giving guildmates decent rep.

I know this doesnt work with Hexed Voodoo NPC's... had a guy L12 at Tormenta yesterday come in and start wacking away at the Molusk I was taking... and he was able to do it no problem (now... this is a catch-22 - if the Molusk turned away to hit him - I'd probably lose the REP I had on him because of the reset... but he would die... so its 'Keep the REP and let him live' or 'lose the REP and let him die...' hmmm :)

But - for those trying to help Level up a lower Guildie - since it appears the Voodoo'ers still remained Hexed you can hex them and they can swing away without damage... Say Padres Beah or El Sudron first - then Tormenta

Just an observation :)

Eh, a questionable update when it comes to helping a crew mate level up. You'd be killing all the enemies for them, so they'd be getting zilch really. As well, if you go and do stuff like Curse on them, will they just not attack when someone lower does?

It could be improved, though it is an alright update.

Heres another tidbit of info. If you are healing another and letting them attack, it will come after you (the healer). Had this happen to me a few times.

With the etiquette thread I started everyone complained about lower levels stealing rep and when Disney does something to fix this, there's more complaints. No way to win, eh? lol.

League 05-04-2008 12:18 AM

Some people though aren't able to survive an attacker between cooldown times.

That's a hard decision, keep the rep, let him live, lose it, let him die. But let's say your a fully-mastered lvl 40 killing vets at Kingshead for the DXD ranks, and someone comes in and attacks, the 0 rep means nothing to you but it's just annoying when someone interferes. Or if you are leveling in Tormenta and someone comes in and attacks what you are, stealing your rep...

So what Disney should do is make it optional, have something like an "Only Attack You" or "Attack Everyone In It's Range" as something to have on an enemies so-called detail panel, (far-fetched I know lol). If your leveling yourself or helping a guildie, and someone comes in, let the person interfering live so it won't reset, But if your alone in Kings, at 40 fully-mastered, someone comes, let him die. You wouldn't even be getting rep to start with but why put up with annoying people like that when you have options?
Kinda crazy but it would help ;)

Eustace the Monk 05-04-2008 01:10 AM

Well, if you are helping a lower guildie or friend, I guess Taunt will have some benefit now. But not when taking 6 vets and 1 officer at the same tome.

yes! i love this new feature!!

Thrawn33 05-04-2008 05:06 AM

Agreed; love the new feature.

So what if your guildmate actually has to risk something when you're helping them. If they're fighting something that could kill them that easily then they shouldn't be fighting them to begin with.
