Hearing phantom voices
 

Three times this has happened to me now - I wonder if anyone else has experienced it. I've been on a friend's ship out in the middle of the ocean, just the two of us sinking ships, and we hear someone else speaking. There are no other pirate ships around. He seems to be talking to someone else so we only get his side of the conversation, but I finally tried talking to him last night. I asked where he was, he said "a jail cell", but he might not have been talking to me, it could have been a coincedence.

I took a screenshot that shows we're the only ship in the area, there's 2 people on the ship, and yet there are three people talking. Anybody know what's going on?

I hear voices in my head all the time.

I believe you, I just couldn't resist the straight line. That'll get me in trouble some day...

This happened to us last night. We were sailing around, and we kept seeing someone else saying the "Hey! Over here!" taunt phrase. The person wasn't on the ship with us, and there were no other ships in sight.

Possible that this Davy sunk with the 'sinking glitch' under the ocean so you would not see him? The half-dozen times I've sank with the glitch I could still fully talk to guild - other locals but was considered to be 'in Jail' (and after logging I actually end up in jail)...

I've had this happen to me before...I was wondering what was going on...I kept hearing something like "ahoy there! what is wrong with your ship?" or something like that...:laughks2:

Only 2 things I can think of to make that happen...

1 - Invisible/Invincible glitch (justified by his "Jail Cell" comment)
2 - Man overboard glitch (I've swam/run after many a ship and done the same thing).

Either way, we will never know, unless the person discloses the truth to you. I think he may have just been pulling your leg.

I had one that seemed like a friendly phantom. Some guy said "Ahoy!" "Nice war galleon you got there!"

Haunted!

The game is haunted!

It's the only reasonable explanation.

Hmm...gosts in a videogame? LOL


Anyway, I have had this happen on an island, and a ship. Not just on a ship.... So I wonder if there is some sort of "repeat" in the chat system?:bookishfj7:

How close to land were you. I get that alot when Im near outcast. I chat with my friends killin the stumps as I take down the big ships there.

Now this DOES happen. I've had this happen several times when switching pirates. Chat logs from up to an hour ago - between 2 and 40 lines - will appear in the logged pirate shortly after logging in.

Another Guilder had a chat appear from WAY back when another Guilder had been talking hours earlier... and actually thought the person had logged back on and was talking to them :) Then when they noticed they were not on the Guild list *panic* - there was a whole issue around if someone had used the account / hacked / bunch of stuff...

Angel also has a good point - if really close to islands I have a few times picked up local chat - from the island... its rare, but does happen :)

LOL yes this happened to me before however our guild master said ahoy and he was not even on @_@

Usually when you access your guild list, and click show members or the guild options log, I get the guild chat of past popping up. Thats my findings on it. It also only shows on your end if its a glitch.

Well, if you've actually studied the game grphical matrix, and have experienced when the loading screen doesn't show up after being sunk and you see the sky on your way to the bottom, you may not be able to see that this may be connected with not completely sinking, but at least a voice staying beind, I'll look into this, other than now I've never heard of it.
