maxing out the skills
 
ok, if you have all the weapons ( and cannon and sailing ) and each one has different skills right...in each of those abilities what would be the skill to max out?

example:

cannon...round shot
sailing...right/left broadside
cutlass...sweep
pistol...take aim
doll...swarm
dagger...cut
grenade...explosive
voodoo staff...

( it can be any skill, or a passive skill ) you can also list the top 2 you would max out

Hmm, OK, heres what I would max:

Cannon (top 3 a must)
Shoot & Rapid Reload
Lightning
Fury (optional)

Sailing:
Both L & R Broadsides
Treasure (I like it, personal preference though)

Cutlass:
Endurance (Extra life by 125 hp)

Pistol:
Take Aim

Doll:
Swarm, Poke for attacks
Lifedrain for insta-heals (Although 3 wuold be good if u needed)
Focus also helps for staff!

Dagger:
Finesse is good for throws (all throws on a large enemy gives max reps)
Alot of people like Maxin Viper's Nest

Grenade:
*Have to check my bigger pirates*

Staff (all of the passives got most my skill points.)

i agree with what angel said
Dagger
i maxedmy combos what ever you prefer to use your dagger for
dont waste any on asp save it for the bigger throwin attacks

Grenades

Demolitions
Determination

Cannon

Lightning
Fury
Round shot
rapid reload
barrage

Voodoo

Poke
Swarm
Life drain
Cure( dont use any on health cure is better)
maybe focus
atleast have to on your voodoo attune

those are all i mainly use
but you should go by what skills you will need the most because some passie skill benefit other weapons you maybe use more

Edited to add my comments on the build. as he said, best for you to go by what you like. Everyones gonna be different.

Sailing: Full sail or treasuresense, broadsides is a must.

Cannon: Ligthning

Pistol: Shoot and lead shot

Cutlass: Sweep + Endurance

Vodoo Doll: Swarm

Dagger: Vipers Nest

Staff: Wither

Grenades: Throw and standard grenade

I see alot of people recommending maxing out "Treasure Sense" when it comes to sailing.

In my experience, high level pirates dont tend to have any problem with cash flow/gold. I found Treasure Sense to be a waste to max out in the long run. If necessary I can make more gold in 5 minutes of blackjack at Padres, than an hour of sailing with treasure sense maxed. I maxed it my first pirate, and will not do that again...

My level 40 pirate, has 1 point in treasure sense (just to have it). He has absolutely everything gold can buy other than clothes/jewelry/tats which is user preference. Has 2 war galleons, and a war frigate, has max gold 65k (and I shoveled 20k recently across the poker table to a friend).

Its not a bad skill to put points on, just thought I would throw in my 2 cents as my personal play style determined this wasnt that useful, and that the skill points could be used elsewhere with more effectiveness.

Zeppers lvl 40 - All mastered but lvl 21 cannons
Groggy McJones lvl 26 - All weapons quest/tp quest finished - avoiding story quest
