Over all game play
I dont know...am I the only one who is angered by this? Has anyone heard anything about new developments? I mean, the boss battle was fun for the 7 minutes it took to complete it...but after it was done and i went back to Jack Sparrow, simply to have them say "hey, keep working on leveling" it was a major disapointment. I mean, I waited 2 months for that? How much longer are we going to be waiting for the next step in the story line? Do I continue to pay $10 a month so i can go to outcast or tormenta and shoot things?
I cant imagine that many high level pirates are sticking around for this. What is your take? Has anyone heard anything about what is coming or when in the story line? The only thing that has kept most of us around is the friendships that we have forged over the past months. For these I am truely thankfull. Even though most of my "friends" on the game, i wouldnt know if i past them on the street. lol A quick shout out to the Dolls 'N Dagger and Elite Circle!!!!! Thank you all for your friendships and adventures...and compassion for my suspenssions. |
It's not just you! How anti-climactic was that?? I am bored to tears in this game! There is no place for creativity and the quests are soooo repetitive. I paid for 6 months, thinking that the Boss battle would bring new adventures.
I would go invest more time on VMK....oh yeah...they say they are closing it.:sadmh9: Pirates was fun for a minute but it is seriously lacking the Disney Magic at this point. |
now hold your horses a massive update is coming to the game in june plus right now they are ironing out the bugs and glitches

Good news: It's going to be based off the 2-3 movies Bad news: It's gonna be in the summer. I'll try to find the interview link, but until then you'll have to trust this. ^^ EDIT: Chris, that's the second time in 4 minutes you've beat me by a minute. :P |
i know im good ;) i watch where u are MUAHAHA!! lol jk random luck ;) :buds:
yea forgot to say they are implementing more of the movies |
Everyone should only pay month to month. Once you're bored move to a free account. Once the new content comes out then start up month to month again.
|
yea but i find it easier to just pay for the year and get it over with :laughks2: plus im the forgetful folk

Wooot!!! Love for the Elite :) We felt your pain on ur multiple suspensions, but we enjoyed the fun times it took gettin u to them! You know you can always go to basic and head back to pay member when your heart desires. You know how to get ahold of most of us and u know we will miss u dearly......MOTORBOAT!

In its current state, I don't think adding to the storyline will really add that much to the game. The quests do an admirable job at regulating access to content; but, let's face it, they're just chore lists. Additionally, with treasures not currently adding anything, they also don't drive much interest for me. The environments are duplicated, and given some slightly different textures and objects. Considering only the existing content, it isn't unreasonable to think that a semi-dedicated, organized player could churn out 4 pirate masters per year.
If this game has any hope, then it's in emergent uses that don't cost them their core audience, or any jeopardy to their brand identity. Other than that, it would seem to be at least 3-4 major quarterly updates from having the kind of content that would keep a single character occupied for ~1200 game hours (over a year) or more. I, also, don't plan on purchasing unlimited access to far in advance; however, I also think there are opportunities for emergent play that have not been explored yet. |

Back on topic..... A lot of us that have been around for awhile have known for a long time now that a big update is coming sometime this summer. Some of us have even speculated that the boss battle will not come online until they're ready for that update, to avoid people complaining. Obviously lol that didn't happened. They provided us with the tattoo/clothing update. They have announced that new weapons are being tested internally. Plus we know a big update is coming this summer sometime. So, angered? Nah. No reason to be. Bored? yeah :p But I have a different view point of this game than some of you. I don't have the MMO experience some of you have. And being around since Beta 1, kinda keeps this game near and dear to my heart <3 |

These companies really don't like to report those numbers, and it's for the same reason that one has to park out in Goofy and take the monorail the rest of the way in...to force the guest to break from the outside world psychologically. They don't like to report the mean period of customer retention either. I have no numbers compiled, but based on experiences with several large pay games and a multitude of free games, I'd say it's usually about 0.5-1% of the population that feels there is no content that is suitable for them, but that still spends approximately the same amount of time logged into that particular game. Of course, long-term social contacts are the most frequently self-reported reason for that. Nick Yee has probably compiled the most legitimate research in one place with his Daedalus Gateway, but there has been some other decent research in virtual economics. Unfortunately, peer-reviewed literature is still pretty thin, but the academic community is starting to realize the research potential in MMOGs. EDIT: Sorry to go farther afield, but I play online games ~15 hours per week, but with forum surfing time included it's probably closer to about dead even with the ~17 hours per week I spend practicing/playing golf. The funny thing is that golf is just the opposite of an MMO, there the social pressure usually works to sugggest that one doesn't spend enough time on golf. EDIT2: Went and found that BBC article also. That was a creat article because I finally got to see a company convert their free/trial version to an expected hourly amount for the content. They reported 100 hours, which used to be very common for offline RPGs. |
