Our Pirate Names.
 

Do you think that every Pirate will have
his/her own individual name? Or will we have the
option of picking other people's name?

Here are two examples...

(Shorter Range of Names)
In VMK, they have to approve your name.
If your name is taken by someone already,
then you have to choose another name.

Negative Side:
If you have not joined when the game first
started (like me.) The name you want is
already taken, so you end up with a stinky
name you don't want.

Positive Side:
This is great because every person has
their own identity. You don't have to
worry about other people pretending to
be you.


(Wider Range of Names)
In ToonTown, there can be more than one
(insert name here) running around
defeating cogs.

Negative Side:
This way of picking names limits your
individuality because people can confuse
you with someone else with the same
name. You could also have spent hours
finding the perfect name for you, and
someone else can take it from under
your nose.

Positive Side:
This is great if you join Pirates Online
a few months into the game, because
you can still have the name you want.



Which method do you think Pirates Online
will use? Will they give us a wide range of
names, or a shorter range of names?

Knowing someone who's playing the beta... it actually has both! :)

I am yet to get my name approved.

I chose my own name but it has yet to be approved.

same here, not approved yet. I am currently stuck with the name Stumpy.

Hmmm, they assigned me the name Stumpy also :( Guess they were not being very creative that day. LOL

I'm stuck with Shaky which I think is highly appropriate given the way I look when I'm walking around due to the lag.
Maybe the girls are Shaky and the boys are Stumpy.

That would be untrue, because my character title is Shaky :)

Short Range names work for me

I like the fact that you can create your own name, but I think the range of standard name options is very good. You get three different columns with plenty of options, I was able to create a name from those that I like a lot.

I think that choosing your own name makes your character, well, you. It's a gigantic part of the character creation process and giving it a sense of identity. I've been working on a bio for quite some time now working on my characters name.

hmmm..... so the name picking will be like vmk where you cant use spaces or anything?? that would be lame because they have to be in a "dictionary". or do you think it will be like toontown where you can pick cool names? i think my pirate name would be a real name, like a first and last one. i think i already figured mine out.. but im not telling!!

I am yet to play.

you can choose your name for your pirate lol. it takes about 3 or 4 hours for me on all 3 of my people i've made lol
