HUGE amounts of memory

So is it just bad programming? Why is Pirates such a resource hog? I can run Half Life 2 at full specs with absolutely no problems...but when it comes to pirates, I have to turn the specs down quite a bit...

Part of it is probably my horrible internet connection, but it's pretty pathetic. I'm not alone in this am I?

Peter Stormsmythe 03-27-2008 05:11 AM

No you aren't. I play Half-Life too, no probs.

But for POTCO. No can play anymore.

"But for POTCO. No can play anymore."

...huh? lol

Peter Stormsmythe 03-27-2008 05:16 AM

I can't continue playing, it mostly lags and crashes.

freefall86 03-27-2008 07:44 AM

oh yea...I tried playing tonight, and I just gave up...

I closed basically every program on my computer, including my virus scan and it still lagged horribly...

Peter Stormsmythe 03-28-2008 03:29 AM

Wait, basically you will need more megabytes. I just asked a mechanic to add more memory for just 12 bucks.

freefall86 03-28-2008 03:32 AM

I have 2GB of memory, that's WAY more then I should need for Pirates

Cement 03-28-2008 11:47 AM

Yeah, this thing has major memory leaks. I can play other games for 12 hours as a time but POTCO just keeps eating memory and gets really slow with major HD thrashing after a few hours.

Disney probably considers it their "stop playing and get some sunshine" feature! :laughks2:

The game often tells me:

If youve been playing for more than 2 hours! You should stop and take a break!

Perhaps this is Disney speak for, please reboot your system, and the game, before it crashs!

Blythe 03-28-2008 10:38 PM

Yup... All of Disney's games are horrible with the memory leaks... Toontown is just as bad. I usually get just about those 2 hours of playing time before I have to restart lol... It's got to be that Panda program, the base of everything. The one that they designed just for their games... Grrr.

Peter Stormsmythe 03-29-2008 03:23 AM

I think you mean the download Program " Pando"

Jack I 03-29-2008 04:11 AM

Nah, there is a "Panda3D" modelling and programming system that Disney had created just for their games. Evil thing it is, horribly evil thing. ^^

Chris 03-29-2008 12:51 PM

yea you would think disney would do something to fix this .-. also 2gb is what i have and it works fine so i wouldnt think ya need more memory

Greywolf1063 04-14-2008 10:02 PM

I run this game on an 1800 ghz processor, with 1536 mb of ram, and an agp nvidia 7600 oc gs 512 mb graphics card, and never freeze up, and some days i'm on for 8 hours straight...without relogging.

DrStinglock 04-15-2008 06:15 AM

My specs are about the same, also, I did notice POTCO wasn't fully using both of my Cores in my AMD X2 4400+ CPU, as one of them was staying unused.

Mind you, Assassins creed was using them just fine moments before.
