Secondary Account as Go-To Target

Here's a handy thing to do with a secondary basic-access account.

Create a character and add it to your friends list.

Then, when you go someplace that's a pain to get to (Kingshead, Padres Beach, or any other place you can't TP to), log in the secondary character and make him go-to you.

Then park him out of the way, in a safe spot. When you need to go back to town for repairs, supplies, or quest reset, just port to town, and go to the secondary when you're done.

Saves a little bit of trip time. And if you crew up with him, you get the 10% crew bonus.

um, to do this, you need 2 comps right?

Bilgepump 03-25-2008 03:59 PM

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work if you tried to run two copies on one machine.

We use the kid's machine.

AH, thought so. What I did to get both my pirates on at the same time from the same account is created a basic account, and linked it with my paying account. Then when I went to sign in on my paying account, used the other comp and went to the basic account (theres an arrow to switch between accounts at the top) and clicked over to paying again and signed on to my other paying pirate on there.

You can do that? (pause to head to POTC website)

Wow. Wish I'd known about that earlier. Thanks for the pointer!

:laughks2:lol angel if only i had 2 computers that could run potco but my computer is the best in the house O_o all others graphic cards arent there yet

I'm kinda bumping... But I know how to run two accounts on the same computer. If your computer's laggy with one window up, you might have crashing issues. But all you have to do is...
1. Copy the "Pirates Online" folder from "C:/Program Files/Disney/Disney Online" (Installed there by default in Windows.)
2. Paste it again in the "Disney Online" folder.
3. Locate the "Launcher1" file inside the folder you just pasted. Copy a shortcut to the desktop if you'd like... The Launcher1 file is..the launcher.
Use at your own risk of course lol.

Did you know if you go to the home page for POTCO and log in, you can link your accounts? We have 2 accounts - 1 unltd, 1 basic - and now if I log in under either account, I can access any of our 6 pirates. Helps a lot when one account gets suspended! But I still can run only one pirate at a time.

Angel 04-10-2008 08:50 PM

OK wait, I was wondering on that. Say Angel gets her account suspended (since shes never so sweet). I have the account linked with another basic account. Do those pirates get suspended as well, or can they still access the 4 that were banned?

Lib Feathers 04-10-2008 10:22 PM

I'll pm you on this one.

Hile 04-12-2008 04:08 PM

Angel 04-12-2008 05:49 PM

Um, no offense Hile, but arent you the one that reports stuff like this?

My comment on Angel: LOL!

My comment on this: Hmmm...VERY interesting.................:laughks2:

I wonder if you could do this with the same account? Just go on as a different pirate?
