Guild naming system, a fiasco

With what must be near or maybe even over 100k guilds out there, the situation is really coming to a head.

There are some serious flaws in the way POTCO is managing the situation.

If you don't know to enter in your requested name ONCE and hit enter (then just wait), you can very quickly run into problems. Conversations with Community have revealed that I actually "had" guild names that the game told me were rejected. But I never really got them because I had entered the name more then once in a process that is extremely ambiguous and poorly managed.

Futhermore, and this becomes more and more of an issue as more players join, once a name is "approved" it is forever off limits, even if you never really got it. All those guild names I had requested but never got? Gone forever, nobody can have them now. Were in a guild that disbanded but like the name? The name is forever lost, they never let the name become available again, even with nobody in the guild.

Further exacerbating the situation is the lack of any means to transfer Guildmaster status to another player. Guilds can carry on without a GM, but they are nuetered in their ability to operate. The only long term viable option is to migrate to a new guild, which means more names taken.

The guild name database reallllly needs instant querying. They need to recycle names of guilds with no members in them. They need to allow the GM of a guild to transfer his or her guild to another player. End transmission.

Yep. I agree with everything you said.

in bold yes i think we should have a "Merge" button to where 2 guilds can merge and this new guild can have 2 GM

another thing is the naming why the game will allow u to have for example bad to the bones to bad to the bonez very similar

Instead of a complete transfer, I would like a merging system where you can switch identities.

Lib Feathers 03-23-2008 04:54 PM

Oh, I like the merge idea. I still wish I could leave messages for my guildmembers who aren't online - like when I left my first guild. A lot of people were confused. Would have been nice if I could have told them which guild I was going to.

I agree. I went through the same thing when I first started. I searched and searched the website for some guidance, to no avail. Finally went to live help, but only after all my primo names were lost :-[

I've been reading the posts all morning and its really sad to see that they wont fix the important things to the people who are paying to play this game but they will take away all our fun glitches and suspend us for the most idiotic reasons. I feel bad for anyone who decided to pay for the entire year, Im seriously reconsidering if I even want to play anymore :/

You touched on a big problem Disney has. Their database. That's also why quests are not appearing for people or are not even or always offered. I would totally fire whoever their dbadmin is because he/she is terrible.

Seen someone with the name Pirage Guild 101267 - so we know now there is more than 100k around... and a good statement on how the Guild Function SHOULD work.... but doesn't.
