A few questions...
I've just got a few general questions I hope some of you people can help me out with.
1. I recently discovered the back beach of Padres, got hex eater, and completed the grenade quest. (Yay!) Well, I've got my nades up to level 6 now. So I go and shoot the gypsies useless then throw nades at them. Level 6 nades, level 23 me, and a level 28 gypsy will only give me about 30-40 rep. I'm using only the basic grenade with two points in it. My question is: what the heck do I have to do to get some decent rep? I've tried stumps, using that handy ledge trick, and I get less than 50 damage on them with each grenade so it'd take about 2 hours to kill one, lol. Any better ideas? 2. Is it worth it to put anything in the "throw" skill of grenades? 3. I also have something I'm curious about. Suppose I'm attacking some enemy, let's say a ship. I have basic cannon, firebrand, and lightning unlocked. Of them all, lightning has the least amount of dots, yet it does the most damage. Will I get more rep using lightning because of the only 2 pips, or regular cannonball because it does less damage but has 5 pips? Did I explain that well, lol? Also, does anyone really know if it's better to just hack, hack, hack and enemy or use combos(in terms of rep)? Argh, I know I have more questions, but I can't think of them now. Oh well. |
1. yea its difficult but try using stink pot and fire bomb until u get smoke then use smoke (only apply 1 skill point to each of these) it will take longer but the rep pays off
2. not now but if u add to throw u will increase your grenade hits which gives u less rep 3. the less damage the less rep |

the less damage u inflict on an enemy the onger it will take you to kill it however the more rep u get so instead of using combos just button mash and you will get lots more rep
|
Ah, gotcha. The problem with that, however, is that I'll die because the guy I'm trying to kill then has more time to kill me. Joy, lol.
|
lol yea that would be the down side

What I did for me is go to Kingshead, (when I earned long volley), and went behind the fence. I would use long volley to attack all those level 18 veterans in a group. Usually about 3 or 4 of them come when they get hit, and then they come towards you. Just keep throwing grenades at them since they can't go across the fence. Of course, sometimes, but not likely, they get through. Keep doing this and you can get some high rep!

or if u have hex eater on your pistol (lvl 12 i think) go to the padres del fuego beach and hit the gyps there with hex to knock out their voodoo and then just nade them now there are undread grenaders there also just kill them bc sometimes they will respawn as gyps

Yeah. I did the Kingshead thing and it gave me only 21 rep for each. But on the plus side there were lots of dumb Navy soldiers so it worked alright.
I like gypsies too. But it seems to take so long for such little rep. *sigh* |
OK, you get Hex at lvl 10. Secondly just keep goin where u are and get fire (Stink...well stinks cause it can hurt u at a close range). Another thing that gives explosive reps is Kingshead. Get in teh middle and bring a healer. Nade them and start backin up and have the healer heal and nade the shista out of them. I was gettin about 25 per navy (6 fo them). u do the math lol.
Keep your attacks weak. The stronger the attack, the less rep u get. You can beef up the combo stuff, for safy measures, but hack n slash....best low. |
You may not particularly like this option, but I mention since it is something different and you're already on Padres' beach anyway....
I wish I had figured it a bit earlier, but I've only used it to gain levels 11 & 12, so far. Incidentally, dagger and grenades are my favorite land weapons, so I often lob a grenade, throw a dagger, and the start slicing as I run up to a mob. Since you put a second point on your regular grenade, you may as well use flame burst primarily (and a nice mix in of other grenades if you like). Starting near the dock on Padres' back beach, run right up the waterline toward the east. As you near the rock wall on the east, you'll see a Rock Crab on the left, up where the slope starts to level off--run straight to that Rock Crab. Have your grenades out, and the camera at the about the angle you want to use as you start backing up. Just start moving straight back, or alternatively you may want to angle your back inland a bit for the first few steps before you straighten out so you're backing up due west now. You'll have picked up 3 Giant Crabs, as you ran up the coastline. As you're backing up they're going to get a couple free shots at you, but after that it's as simple as just backing up at a smooth, steady pace. It might not seem like much, especially if you get stuck with a couple small level-16 or 17 crabs at first; however, the whole key is that by the time you've backed up to the near the dock area, the Giant Crabs are ready to respawn again so just start moving east again. The big upshot is the rapid respawn rate gives the routine a nice continuous pace, and the gun shop is only a couple steps away. Plus, Giant Crabs are easy to hit and so large that they all stay inside the smallest blast radii easily. Gypsies, then, become a convenient way to burn off remnant grenades on your way back to the shop to fill back up on supplies. |
Ah thanks guys. I'll definitely try these out, especially the bring a healer bit, lol.
Grenades and dagger are my favorite weapons too, Steely Jim. Hex eater though as became my most favorite skill. :P |
