I suppose it's a decent weapon... but it seems like this whole story did just lead to some code weapon like we feared... Hopefully this isn't the end of this little plot line...

Oh joy, my first Legendary weapon ever.
From a code. I was honestly really hoping for something a bit more worthwhile to come out of this. I guess it is fairly neat, but it's just not worth all the excitement this "short story" caused. @Platinum I have UA only for the purpose of using my upgraded ships on the Test Server, so yes, I will be using this sword. Let's hope this code works on Test too. Edit: Disappointment. It does not work on Test. |
lol I saw that too. It does not work at Test. I hope it will. Guess I'll send in a feedback and maybe the rest of us who have access do the same. Yesterday, I had to send that in-game feedback because CD became unplayable after Wave 16. Ships were horribly skipping. Server needs a reset and they need to remove the green sea as well. Gotta love POTCO for being so kind to let us enjoy the green sea a bit more. ;)
I did try out that new sword at Live during the Invasion. Unfortunately, I had to use my siege charge most of the time to keep the enemies from advancing. Then, wouldn't you know it, after all that hard work, when Jolly finally shows up [perfect target to try on], I ended up playing medic. ROFL, Dark_Pixie had to as well. Too funny how the few who did take Jolly out complained that its too easy compared to Abassa. She said it best, "We're just awesome." |
A word of advice to all - "NEVER say in open chat that you're going to give the code to the eitc and Jolly Roger" this will cause you to get knocked out by a GM, I did it as a test statement and was knocked out instantly

Forgive me if I'm wrong, as I haven't been paying attention to the game much until recently, but I'm getting a feeling that there will be an update to follow. Around summertime most likely, since that's when a lot of players will be out of school and have more time to play.

I just feel like this weapon, albeit a redeem code, is a sort of precursor to a new story quest; be it a large, Black Pearl-length quest (which I do hope for, considering it's been a looong time since the last update), or a mid-sized, Raven's Cove-esque story quest. And the recent news articles, in my opinion, are pointing towards one. Again, I may be wrong, but why would they say "...this may not be the end of the mysteries" if there's nothing else to follow? I also think simply putting this weapon in loot, however (maybe just on Padres, similar to how one can only find Cursed Blades on Raven's/Tormenta), would have been a better idea in the long run for POTCO. Releasing it as a redeem code, players who aren't entirely active will likely just log on, redeem the code, and log off again. If they really wanted to keep players in the game, it should have been made lootable instead. Make the players log on and work for it. |
Something coming... or just a tease?
Its a good observation that usually a giveaway precedes new content or a new update, so I will try and be optimistic. But, I wonder if this just a gimmick giveaway to keep us on the hook. After all, I'm sure they know how we react to such things.

POTCO just posted a Spotlight on the weapon itself and to inform us that we have until Sunday to redeem the code. The way its written makes it clear to me, at least, that this was a promo-teaser combo and nothing more to get players to buy UA. I'd like to think if something substantial is released, it will be around their anniversary. And whether they do or not, hopefully they'll take my tongue-in-cheek blog to heart and make this code available at Test.
