Runtime error - C++

Hi all I'm using Windows 8, and have today received 3 error messages of C++ Runtime error, any suggestions on how to fix this?

Platinum Pirate 12-08-2012 05:37 PM

Several things to note here:

1) Windows 8 is new to market. Expect new bugs to happen with the game.

2) Have you gone through the whole checklist to determine the cause on your end?

3) What were you doing when this bug happened? Did you submit an official Bug Report?

Normally, when Runtime happens, you need to reboot your comp. After it boots up, you need to disable all those extra applications running in the background. Then, launch the game. It's optional to clear your Cache folder in your Pirates folder. I usually advice people to do it anyway.

If you're still experiencing problems, you need to contact Tech Support. Good luck!

Ok, but I would've thought Disney would have been ready for windows 8

2) Have you gone through the whole checklist to determine the cause on your end?
Yes, I cleared cache, reboot, closed all start up programs that didn't need to be running

3) What were you doing when this bug happened?
I was teleporting to another server and to a friend

4) Did you submit an official Bug Report?
I have submitted a bug report and was told my C++ was out of date and to down load a newer version, which i did via their link but still get the Runtime Error

I run Windows 7 and after applying all the recent updates, I could only play for about 2 minutes before the game would crash. Had to uninstall all the updates. This is the first time I have had to do something like this.
I hate to say it, but I don't think Disney has updated the game to 'play' nicely with the latest that Microsoft has to offer. We can only hope they do something about it.

Okay, thank you for your replies. If I understand this correctly, you had no trouble downloading, launching, and playing this game through for some time. At some point, you would get a Runtime Error [RTE]. Correct?

If correct, how soon does it happen from the time you log in to the game to the time of the crash?

My brother uses Windows 7 and had no trouble playing the game. How could yours in particular not work properly?

Just a couple of further questions to the one from Platinum...

As far as Updates go, are we talking JUST Windows Updates? Have you checked your Drivers (specifically Sound and Video)? If you have checked the Drivers, are yours Windows Certified? (Often the latest Drivers / Forceware are not Supported / Certified by Windows)

The runtime error happens when I've hopped between one server and another and always after a couple hours, either when I'm out at sea or looting in mines or caverns

Windows from your comp? or POTCO while launching or playing the game?

Bart Blueginty 02-14-2013 08:22 PM

It's from Windows on my computer.
