Clan Sub-forums a bit out of hand?

First before I begin, I understand the way the admins are running this and respect that, I just feel the need to express some concern.

Currently, there are 10 guild sub-forums. One guild just started, and another doesn't even have an active guildmaster due to limited access. I know that we couldn't be going by this , and in my personal opinion I think it would benefit the entire site if we did. Right now you can't see the actual forum for the list of sub-forums, and that kills all of the members who don't have a subforum the chance of getting members here since the most of new people will think "Hey, these guys have there own area, they must be cool/nice/good." As said, I just felt my need to express the concern on the matter , and rest assured knowing the staff probably has a limit already designated if things get out of hand.

(Oh, and just to clarify for some people why I would be "complaining" if I'm a clan leader, I actually run a private sub-forum in the creative coffers, not a guild subforum. ^^)

That is a very well-put post you have there. I am sure the mods and admins will take it as a suggestion and idea rather than a complaint.

I have noticed the amount of clan sub-forums this site has, and it's quite a bit. Though maybe the sub-forums are inactive, I believe maybe they are active behind the scenes. Perhaps a non-member (non-forums member) has taken it over. Still, in that case we come to your well-stated conclusion. Some are inactive and there is a reason to not keep them there.

I'm still here...

I know you're here, I'm not trying to point this towards all subforums. I've just noticed a few that I don't see how/why
they deserve a sub-forum as
1. The subforum is inactive
2. The guild is new
3. The guild doesn't follow sub-forum acceptance guidlelines. (Part of #2)

So, I'm just reffering to some that seem to be there just to attract extra attention to their guild. ^^

Caleb Killagin 03-04-2008 11:31 PM

Ahem.. So you say I dont deserve a subforum? 10 is fine, I just think that this may stop soon so that I ought to get a jump on it early. I figured that eventually.. the will no longer be accepting ones. But I have plenty of members in my guild that get on regularly. I agree though, those guilds with a limited access guildmaster (not slamming you -you know who you are-) and one without a guildmaster period (not slamming that awesome guild either!).

I'm not saying you don't deserve one Caleb, I'm reffering to the sub-forum qualifications as posted by Batleth. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to offend anyone, but I'm just saying that I think it's best we start following the regulations posted a bit stricter.

CaptainMonkeys 03-04-2008 11:36 PM

If it's regulations, it's bound to mean something.

Caleb Killagin 03-04-2008 11:37 PM

Yea I know about the great and very fair regulations on clan sub-forums. I am trying and I think I am doing well.. to abide by them.

CaptainMonkeys 03-04-2008 11:42 PM

He's not necessarily going against you, and it's really the mod's decision.

I've been following instructions by Nick to allow additional sub-forums to newer guilds since there are no long term established or large guilds at this point. It's a little different from the guidelines on my other post, but we're just testing to see how it goes. We'll more than likely use those guidelines for additional sub-forums or if our current terms for a subforum doesn't work out well for us and the guilds.

Alright, thanks Batleth. I was just worried since it was getting a little flooded, but I respect Nick's decision along with the rest of the staffs. ^^

Just trying different things out here from our other forums. We've had lots of experience running forums since 2000, but never hurts to try something new. I'm sure some will be more successful than others. Most of the things we're trying differently here can be undone or fixed. Just have to see how they go.

Okie dokie then, wouldn't mind closing the thread then would ya? Just wanted to express my concern and see a staff member's opinion on the matter. ^^
