Compass while sailing
 

I keep having an intermittent problem with the compass while sailing. A lot of times, it doesn't work right. The blue boat representing my ship will be off center, and it won't show any other ships, friend nor foe. This really annoys me, as I depend on the compass while sailing solo to line up my broadsides. Sometimes it takes me 10 minutes of rowing out to my ship and anchoring until the compass finally works correctly.

Is anyone else having this problem?

For me the game freezes up for a few seconds and the radar zooms in fully when I get too close to an island, either by sailing too close or simply walking up the stairs to take the wheel on my war frigate after I've just launched (mostly on PDF). Gets annoying having to re-zoom out all the time as it's the best view for sailing.

Not sure if that matches your problem but aswell as the zoom problem I occasionally get a persistant blue ship icon stuck off center on my radar even while on land.

If you are talking about your ship not even showing up, just hit the -- key on your compass to show less, which equals more on sea.
