Function keys don't work

So I just got a brand new computer and finished installing pirates online onto it. I'm able to play, but for some reason, the function keys don't do what they're supposed to do (drawing weapons, logout menu, etc.) The ones I tried just pull up windows on my desktop and the F4 button blanked out the entire screen. Is there any way I can fix this? I'm using a Windows 7 Gateway. Any help is appreciated.

Is there a key on your keyboard that says something like 'fn' or 'function'? When I play POTCO on my laptop, I have to hold that down and then press the key I want (I sometimes forget this, unfortunately, and end up disconnecting myself from the internet). I expect on some machines you can reconfigure this, but I'm not absolutely sure.

Kale,
If your function keys have 2 different symbols on them, then it is like Dark Pixie says. I play on a Windows machine as well as a MAC. On my MAC, I go into 'system preferences', select 'keyboard'. On the window that comes up, I have an option to use all the function keys as standard functions keys. If I want to get to the other 'function' that key can perform. I have to press the 'fn' key first. Dark Pixie, do you play on a MAC? If so, that is how you can change your function keys.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the help guys. And yeah, I do have an 'fn' key. I haven't been able to get on much recently because of modem problems, but I'll try that next time I get on.

Didn't see this. :p I sometimes play on a Windows 7 laptop, and I've looked high and low for a place to change my function keys, but it's no good. Not such a big deal for me though; I only really play on my laptop when I'm staying up late for an event (my computer is upstairs and I don't want to wake anyone). So it's not so bad for me, haha.

You have peeked my interest. Our new computers at work in the conference rooms have this type of keyboard. Will investigate during lunch some day.
