How to get off your ship!!
 

Sorry if this is old but still!!
I'm not sure if this will work for everyone but you can try!
I did this on a light galleon, go to the place on the ship where you have crates or something and run into them make sure the screen shakes and after awhile you should fall into the water and swim. This will take a few tries and I found it quite hard!! Also if you swim to an island there will be no water but you will still be swimming!!

Place with crates!!!!

Frigates, go do this up at the front left cannon. face it and walk off
