Problems logging on.
Whenever I try to log on to the game I get a message under the login boxes saying 'There was a problem verifying the account ID'. I've been on the game at my grandmother's and it work fine, her internet is about 10 times faster than mine. I'm wondering if my slow internet is the problem... Usually I have 1185 ping and download speeds of 0.4 mb/s, I tried to find out if there was a minimum speed but All the official site said was that broadband was reccommended. Please help ;):Anti-Piracy_Icon_P:

I have been having the same problem and Disney told me it might be because I use satellite internet to connect. Do you use satellite internet? If you find out what is causing the problem could you please post it here? I really miss playing pirates and would like to start playing again.

Yes, I use satellite internet, i'm on with Xplornet. I've emailed support and will probably get the same response as you.*Sighs*

I am using Hughesnet satellite service, and they have a firewall set up that comes right from the operation center. I think that the firewall is somehow keeping us from logging in to pirates and also toontown. It wont even let me log in to the account manager. But hughesnet wont put pirates on their list of trusted sites, so I guess its bye bye to pirates and toontown. But the weird thing is that I can log in just fine to the test servers of both pirates and toontown and I go to my daughters house ( she has cable internet ) and I can log in just fine there. I live out in the counrty so satellite internet is our only option. I hope you have better luck than we have had getting this problem resolved, but I suspect that they will never accept blame for the log in problems.

Is this the same reply you got?
Hello Toon Pal, I am sorry to hear that this issue is still persisting and not allowing you to log onto ToonTown Online. We have been investigating this issue extensively and found that there seems to be a issues with guest that are using Satellite Internet Service. If you are using that sort of service for your Internet, please contact your Internet Service Provider for assistance. • Check the guest’s system clock to ensure that the time & date are correct • Please try logging into your Account Manager and see if you are able to log onto it here: http://disney.go.com/guestservices/youraccount • Please check all security programs or browser add-ons as they may be blocking your connection • Please refer to your satellite ISP for support as that may be the cause of the issue. Don Technical Support Representative For some reason it says toon town even though I've never played that game.... |
This happened to me both In Toon Town and Pirates Online. Just ignore this and try Logging in Again! It works for me.

I began having this problem a little over a month ago also, it seems to me that the problem must be with pirates because we are using two different satellite companies. And yes that is about the same response i got from Disney except that I used live chat to contact them. I just wish that they would figure something out because I REALLY miss playing the game. :sadmh9: |

Another question I have for satellite users is this: Does your ISP have a cap in effect? This happens with cable users as well. So its not just satellite. Also, what are the odds that those sun flares are causing satellite issues at this time? idk, just throwing some possibilities in here. |

yes it was in February that my problems with logging in started. But its not just the game, I also cant even get the account manager page to load at all. It keeps saying theis page cannot be displayed. I can go to any page on the site except those dealing with my account. I also thought of the solar storms too. maybe it could be that, but dont cable companies use satellites for their internet too? Idk I am really at a loss, satellite company blames Disney and Disney blames my satellite company. I dont care whose fault it is i just wanna play pirates lol |
Sorry to hear that Nikki. I understand how much you want to simply play pirates again. I went to http://www.hughesnet.com/residential...ernet/faqs.cfm
and read this in their FAQ: What is transmission latency? Latency refers to the amount of time it takes a packet of data to travel across a network. With satellite service, that data must travel up to the satellite and back (about 45,000 miles). This round trip adds about a half-second delay to the total time your computer takes to communicate with a Website or host server. Therefore, time-sensitive applications that require fractions-of-a-second user inputs (such as multi-player "twitch" games or real-time equities trading) are not recommended with HughesNet. I also saw that they have a cap. Speeds range from 1 MB to 2 MB. That's slow and much too expensive. Without a search engine at the site, I can't find this Firewall you mentioned about Nikki. Seems to me that you need to find another satellite ISP. Just my opinion though. |

Thank you so much for all your help, please know that I really appreciate it :) They did tell me about the latency, but the funny thing is that I didnt have any problem logging in to pirates for the first month I had hugesnet, but within a week of our 30 day trial is when pirates just stopped working. i could play fine with hughesnet up until that point. Plus you wouldnt think latency had anything to do with getting the account manager page to come up. Also I can play fine on pirates test server as well as toontown test server. So to me their explanation just doesnt hold water. But you are right I need a new isp. But we live so far out that this is our only option right now :( Once again though I do appreciate all the trouble you have gone through on my behalf. Thank you so much |
For those of you experiencing the 'there was a problem verifying the account ID' error. This seems to effect all satellite users. There has been an ongoing conversation on another forum for Toontown. For those who have never played Toontown, it is another Disney game and uses the same launcher (it just looks different). The problem is with all Disney https sites. It might be helpful, for those who are just starting to work on this problem, to read the ongoing thread on this forum. We have been keeping each other up to date on what we have been doing to try to solve this problem. Unfortunately, Toontown/Pirates has been of no help. Here is a link to the thread:

Thank you so much Eliza, I play toontown too and was unaware of the posts on ttc. Maybe with so many people affected by this problem Disney will finally do something. :dancetl6: |
That was an eye-numbing read I ever done from that ttc link. Wow. The one thing that stood out was the whole Dish Network feud with ABC. That may be the sole reason why you can't log in anymore. It's like that contract Netflix had with Starz. People were informed about the big change in advance and when that date finally arrive, something was noticeably different with the main page. If the law does not require advance notice, company won't notify the customer except in very small letters.
Another trend that is occurring are ISPs [internet service providers] cracking down on the amount of time their customers tend to use the internet. Some are more strong arm about it than others, but plans involving limited hours or downloads are there and growing. So if their monitoring system sees that the user spends too much time at a site that eats away the bandwidth like no other, then they will arbitrarily block the site. It's in accordance to that contract nobody really reads about when they signed on. So it may not be a tech issue, it's a service issue. That port/ door is closed. |
