Injured at sea

Everytime we fought a warship today, I kept losing health. Someone even had to keep healing me. Was I getting hit by shrapnel or something? Has this happened to anyone else?

This has not happend to me, but sometimes if I go materiale running a crew mate gets injured and even sometimes knocked out! Best we can do is send in a bug report.

Yes, this has happened to me before, although I don't know why. It's a cool feature if you are getting hit by shrapnel though.

Seems like this was one of those Friday the 13th mishaps we were warned about.

I actually got KO once before, not on Friday the 13. Maybe Grape Shot?

Platinum Pirate 01-16-2012 02:48 PM

I was knocked out too in SvS but not in regular sailing runs. So, when and where exactly were you hit with grape shot Captain Hector? The timing of Kale Grayhand's thread about her particular KO is the reason why I made my comment. Maybe we should document every mishap we encountered on Friday the 13th in fact lol. There will be two more of those this year and I'm pretty certain they will happen again.

I too have seen people's health diminish in crew while sailing. Strange, very strange.

Sometimes when you are fighting an enemy ship, if you use a certain type of ammo when the enemy is too close to you, like explosive, the impact will be strong enough to reach you, and thusly hurt you as well. However, seeing as how you were not using explosive, then we need to look at the Tally-Ho, which DOES use explosives. (I know that the hard way :degen:)

It is possible for a ship to do damage to the crew of a ship, especially when the enemy is using explosive, which does such strong damage in such a large vicinity. It seems to me this wasn't a glitch, just the Tally-Ho trying to get rid of you and your crew the hard way :laughks2:

I had this happen to me a while back. Me and my crew was sailing for gold and were battling an EITC Warlord and I used explosive when we were right next to her and I got knocked out. Maybe it's remnants of the old days when you can shoot at the crew (Visible on ship back then).

^^I miss those days =/

Well, isn't there a sailing strategy for the captain or whoever is manning the helm? "Take Cover", if I'm not mistaken, says something about the crew members on board not recieving any injuries from what's shot at the ship? I'm not sure if it's that or just giving the ship better protection from any damage.

I did have a cannoneer KO'd during normal (Non SvS) ship battles... I thought that perhaps some PVP glitchers got in or something... that wasn't the case... this was confirmend again when I received damage while shooting a cannon.

Definitely not a bug. My assumption is that it's Explosive from an enemy ship. You're supposed to get knocked down when you're hit by it too (only works in SvS for some reason...).

Explosive might be supposed to have an X percent chance of damaging the opponent's cannoneers. Obviously this only works when it's thrown at you by an NPC ship (except in SvS). If I'm correct, there really should be a message telling you that in-game...

Kale Grayhand 01-16-2012 08:49 PM

Interesting. It would definitely be more realistic if the crew could be injured during sea battles, like they would be in real life.
