All New Materials For the Looting - December 27, 2011

Pirates keen to improve their ships’ speed, defense and cargo holds are targeting enemy vessels with a vengeance! What do they seek? Plunder, mate, in these all new materials needed for a ship-shape upgrade:

Canvas
A rough sail material, good for catching swift winds

Silk
Afiner, lightweight sail material allowing for even greater speed at sea

Steel
A trusty, basic armor material to protect yer hull

Iron
A refined, heavier armor material to repel deadly cannon blasts

Pine
A light wood for quick expansion of deck and hold

Oak

A heartier wood allowing for even greater cargo hold dimensions

The Navy and EITC greedily hoard these materials with a tight fist, fearful of the advantage they could mean for Pirates at sea. To ensure the safekeeping of these new goods, powerful Bounty Hunters and Warships are often used to ferry this precious cargo from port to port – so man the cannon and prepare for battle!

NOTE: If your Pirate should fall asleep on deck while enemy ships are sunk, you will not plunder their loot. So look alive, sailor!

Hasn't it always been like this? I seem to remember getting on a ship and having to go AFK - I sunk one ship before I went AFK, and I got the loot from that ship, but no other loot from the other ships that were sunk.

I think that was for the ships sunk count on the leaderboards.

It's always been like this.

It's just not effective though, because people can just get a program to auto-wake at specific intervals.

Online gaming has changed a lot over the years...

Am I the only swab that noticed they have the descriptions of
iron and steel swapped? Steel is refined iron. Duh!

So you don't get the loot if you're AFK, but if you don't hit an enemy ship do you still get the loot? 0_o

Yes ye still get loot.

In my opinion, the Iron and Steel descriptions should be switched, since Steel is technically the better metal.

There's actually still 2 ways to avoid that.... you can auto-run against a ship wall or just, "repair."

What's the best way to get some of these materials fast? I'm only up to 124 Iron and it seems to take forever to get any of these materials by myself.

Try public ships on Abassa. Often you'll find captains who just want to gather loot, and will continue to increase their loot value when the cargo hold is full (and as a result of this you may be asked to repair the ship at X amount of health). Abassa may be full of crazies, but most public ships out there are actually pretty decent.

Good luck with the material hunting! :)

Oh yeah, this definitely helped.

Found a guy that went on for about an hour before he docked and we ended up with 13 Rare Ship Material Chests and 5 Ship Material Chests.
