It's just maintenance. I believe the notice will actually say "live is going down for an update" when they're ready to add new content. I suspect that they're optimizing the servers for the updates.

But hey, hope I'm wrong!

Yep, nothing seems to have been added. Lag seems to be nonexistent though.
