Lag has gotten worse?

Has anyone other than me noticed a significant increase in the lag in the game lately? I've been doing a lot of cannoning lately by myself, and I can't help but notice how "ship jumping" has gotten far worse. As in, until the ship is actually going straight for me (and is not turning) it is almost impossible for me to aim. I fire my shot at where the ship is, but then it poofs without the in between state I count on and ends up somewhere else on its path. I have always been aware of ship jumping; however, it has never been this bad for me.

It's not just me either; my guildmates and friends also note quite oftenly on the lag their having. I can't be sure of their computer or Internet situations, but I'm sure that a good portion are running on decent computers with good internet. Therefore, it is probably not a problem on their end (for most of them), but something with POTCO. What I am slightly confused about is why it has increased now, because we haven't had any updates. The only thing I can think of is increased traffic on their servers, but I haven't noticed a significantly larger amount of players online to cause this.

I'm positive this is not on my end. I've got a powerful laptop and great Internet Connection. I play Wifi, but even though POTCO says that playing connected is better, I have never noticed much of a difference, and I doubt it would fix this lag. Nothing has changed about the computer, leading me to believe that this is definitely on POTCO's end.

I just thought I'd share this with all of you and ask if any of you have had increased lag issues lately. I normally am able to tolerate lag... but it's starting to get a bit ridiculous.

I completely agree. Back in the beginning of November I noticed that especially the ship lag is the worst it has ever been in my playing life. I also have noticed spawning of ships has either lagged or decreased since then. I wish they would fix this very soon because I am so annoyed of it. Back in 2007 there were no lag like this lag.

EDIT:About the WiFi... If you have measured with speedtest.net and have above 1mbps you're fine. Disney believes that WiFi will decrease performance. It does, but not very drastically... I have a 35mbps (connected speed) speed and it only goes down to about 22 (WiFi speed) at lowest times.

same here, I have had tons of lag since the beginning of November. I never have had this much lag in a long time. It is really starting to get annoying.

Wow Tiberius, you beat me to making a thread like this o_o I have been, over the past week, experiencing A LOT of lag at sea, and when I fight enemies, their health stays green for a long time while I am hacking away at them, and then all of a sudden they will just fall to the ground and I will be reduced to half health.

I've had my fair share of lag on land. Enemies jumping everywhere, 5 seconds to open a loot chest, etc.

OMG dont even get m started, svs is a nightmare, fighting is a pain and runtime pops up at the worst of times (like when I'm about to get my 100 sink streak -_-), I could go in further but most of ye here have probably already experienced it.

Yeah that too, loot containers are killing me, they take forever to load.

Its not just the lag, its also the fact that enemies are getting stuck in the mountain or can run into them and attack you where you can't get to them easily. Add that to the lag and assorted glitches, and you can get knocked out very easily.

I haven't had much problem with lag, my game runs smooth. The only problem I have noticed everywhere in game play is that everything is beginning to have a delayed reaction. For example, in SvS, I can blast away at a ship but the damage numbers take a few seconds or more to show up after being hit. The same goes for enemies on land, I can hack away but the health bar going down is never on time with the hits I make. I agree with Katrina as well that enemies are no longer running straight to you but are scattering and going through walls, defying all physical laws. A few months ago, this wasn't a problem.

All I have experienced are the delayed reaction. My computer is holding up pretty well through all of this, if I say so myself. Takes a couple of seconds to open a chest. Also, with the delayed reactions, kind of reminds me of the hit detection lag on MW3 when it came out.

You guys have to complain to Disney about it or else nothing will change.

They are not perfect or "great" at running this MMO.

I went on live chat about it... a few times actually. One of the conversations is right here - http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ad.php?t=30735 Although it was about crashing, which I managed to get fixed with the help of another pirate (:laughks2:), it's still kind of related.

Whenever I PvP 50% of my flourishes & thrusts lag (I freeze for 2 seconds) and then it messes up my whole start. Definitely not me as I have a super computer. Must be the servers and invasions.

It is their servers and negligence for this game that makes it behave like a low-budget college project.

I blame the economy.
