Custom Pirate Names

Can anyone tell me how long I should expect to wait to get my avatar's name approved?

Rather than pulling from the list, I typed a name, then was told I would get a temporary name until my chosen name was approved. It's been 3 days. I'd like to make some friends and join or start a guild, but it's difficult when my name is still "Pirate." I'm level 8, and by now I'm really hating my temp name.

Also, can you ever change your name or appearance without starting from ground zero?

Thanks in advance.

It drove me absolutely up the wall to run around with the name "Swashbuckler," but it was worth it. It took less than a week for me to get my name approved, and it's very nice to have a unique name that no one else will have. Don't despair!

You should see something indicating whether your name was approved. I suggest trying another name.

Once your name is approved that'll be your name forever.

When the new customization enhancement come to Live this month, you will be able to change your pirates look (hair, jewelry, tatoo, and clothes). Body type, facial features, and gender can't be changed.

I used to think the same thing till I went on DxD one day to look up my stats and found another pirate with my EXACT same name. I've used the name Captain Grizzly Blackwater since Beta 1 and have had to get it approved in each stage of the game. Imagine my suprise when I found another one. I found out that there are no unique names. If someone wants to use the same name you have they only need to send it in and it will be approved more likely than not.

My name was in four days - my first guild name was less than two - but then after time when several friends and I who I had met playing the game decided on a new guild and name - it took two weeks - all during the "new commercial" and flood of new players - so do not be surprised if you are waiting a couple of weeks...

I was on the first day the game was out, and My name was approves within my next login, wich was in the next 15 minutes. lol. I wouldn't be surprized if it takes almost a week now.:vlaugh:

Depends on the name really, their guidelines serve no purpose for the most part... (There's a guideline that says you can't use captain... that didn't work. Then there's those "family friendly" people that just need a lovely ban.) ...but it can take anywhere from a day to two weeks. (It happens)

Sorta OT:

Oh yes, I know that theoretically someone else could have the name "Emily Ann Baker," but the chances of that are much less than if I had used a premade name. I guess what I'm saying is that at the very least the format of my name (having a first name, middle name, and one-syllable last name) is more unique. I like standing out a bit and still fitting within the format of the world, where most pirate names are a first and a last name.

...Now that I've said my name, I'm claiming it. None of you can have it. ...Just kidding. Nobutreally, don't take it. XP

Unless your name is fjdsklfjklsjklfds and the PotCO staff accidentally approve it, there is no unique name. Your name should be approved in 3 days or less.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. Mine was approved in less than 24 hrs....
