Book Club Guidelines

An internet book club is organized on slightly different lines than the one at your local library. Since we can never meet face-to-face, we have to rely on our ability to post our thoughts and feelings and respecting everyone's opinion is the most important rule we have.

Step 1. We will usually do a poll to select the book we want to read next. This is to be a book that you haven't read yet, but want to or a book that you want a chance to talk with others about. Once we get more organized, we will have a group of people that will gather reviews and post them so each person can make an intelligent choice.

Step 2. Read the book. If you think you hate the book, please read at least the first five chapters so you know you gave the book a fair chance;-)

Step 3. There will be an open thread to discuss the book. If you want to share your ideas of what MIGHT happen, then feel free to post your ideas or if you have a thought about a character or a sudden brainstorm that you want to share - post away.

NOTE:If you don't want spoilers about the book, don't read the thread until you have finished the book.

Step 4. Once you have completed the book, then post something to let us know you have finished it. Maybe you want to tell us who your favorite character is and why. Maybe you want to tell us that you hated the book. Whatever is fine, just be respectful of everyone's opinion - good OR bad.

Step 5. We will schedule an IRC chat in our forum. Those that can come and talk about the book are welcome - even those that are not technically members of our club. If you know someone who has read the book and they want to come to chat - invite them.

Step 6. We will put up a poll to decide what book we will read next and start the process over again.
