I got reported for visting Tormenta?

I was out looting, sinking ships and I decided to port at Tormenta. I go to the thrall pond and there's three people there. A thrall attacked me and I shot him. One of them started calling me a rep stealer(they weren't even fighting it!) and I told them I didn't mean to kill it, it had attacked me, I told them i would wait around a bit, I wouldn't attack anything and they said ok. After a while, someone else came in and told me to leave, I told him I wasn't going to attack anything, I was on break and he said he didn't care, I could leave or he would report me. I told him I did nothing wrong, and he said he did report me, when I asked for what I did wrong, he said I was reported for being in his guild's Tormenta and that they owned it on that server. I told him(even though I was on ignore) that it was a free game and I should be able to go where I want. Then his buddy showed up and said(and I qoute) "hey random dude, I came to to my friend just to report you. ENJOY!" and then they left. Could someone please tell me what I did to offend them? I seriously don't want to loose my test account because I visted the wrong tormenta!

No one owns any area in the game, regardless of which guild. You did nothing wrong. They were in the wrong & should have been reported IMHO. It's a form of bullying....

Robert Ironcastle 10-01-2011 03:48 PM

Yes.You did nothing wrong.They were,in fact,in the wrong.No one "owns" any part of the map,except big D.

Cabinwrecker 10-01-2011 03:51 PM

Do you think Disney discards these reports? I'm worried about losing my test.

Davy_Mcwrecker 10-01-2011 03:53 PM

Don't worry. I was reported for healing people once. The jerks who report you get the ban, for abusing the report system.

WeirdBeard 10-01-2011 03:54 PM

Yes, i think they do. If you are reported, send dinsey an email and such telling what you did, and that you don't see anything ye have done wrong.

Cabinwrecker 10-01-2011 03:57 PM

Thank you! I will do just that!

You can also talk with a rep from Disney on the phone. Can't remember the number, though. I mean what could they report you for-taking up space & adding to the lag? Definitely, using the system for incorrect means.

I thought they suspended their telephone service due to more game-related issues......

@Cabinwrecker

No need to worry about them falsely reporting you.

It just puts a nofication on their systems at the HQ and also sends the current and some future chat and action log files during the time of the report.

Rest assured, they always review them before they take any action against an account. They will find nothing and discard it in your case.

If you know you didn't violate the TOS, Disney House Rules, or Code of Conduct, then you will not be suspended/banned. You're fine.

As stated above, no one can claim ownership of a certain server and or island and as you stated, it is a free game. No one can report other players for something like just standing in place on a "Guild" island. When I see some of this, players from the guild say that its the island or server they spend time most on, and not say it is their's, which is freely sharing the freedom of being on the server or island. The pirates who reported you for standing around will strongly probably get a ban on themselves for the abuse of the Reporting System.

Just for the record, they pretty much discard all reports. I've never seen or heard of anyone banned by being reported for the past few years, so when you get reported by someone you really don't need to worry about anything (Not saying you did anything bad, if that's the implication. I certainly believe that you had every right to be there.). I really; however, wish that they would fix this report system.

You had every right to be in that place. IMO, if you are there first, people should pay you respect and not just jump in and start killing things, let alone trying to kick you out. There seem to be a lot more people like this lately, as I haven't had someone say "Mind if I join you here?" for ages. You were right, they were wrong. Nobody ever owns anything in game other than what's in their inventory. You'll be fine, don't worry.

I've heard of this sort of thing happening and it's never pleasant. I've had an instance of it myself. Went to Raven's Cove, asked me to leave, told them I didn't do anything, and boom, somehow I get reported and yet I never got a ban. Later, I heard they got the report on them for abusing the system. Latest I've heard is they are looking for me to get revenge. I'm not too concerned about it myself. Hope this helps, mate.

You might be right Ice Storm-haven't really kept up with some things for the past year.

I really dislike it when someone thinks they own part of the game. None of the game is restricted for certain people, and it's plain wrong when someone just 'claims' an area. Plenty of people think they own Bowdash on a particular server, and when I'm hanging there with my friends usually someone comes in and tells us to get out because it's their house.

I can't stand thinking about the reason that those people reported you, Cabinwrecker. The first guy got it into his head that his guild owned Tormenta on that server, and most likely believed that he was reporting you for a good reason. He may have told his friend that you'd done something much worse.

I've been falsely reported dozens of times, and I've never had a problem. I just calmly tell the person that they could get a violation or a ban for false reporting, and carry on doing what I came there for. Sometimes when someone threatens to report you, they don't actually report you at all, but say they have. You can never know for certain, but it doesn't make any difference as long as you've done nothing wrong.

To avoid getting caught up in any trouble, remember that all chat logs are saved for Disney to look over if any mischief is detected by the filter. When Disney recieves a particularly nasty report, they look over the chat log records and put the culprit to justice. So the guy you encountered, Cabinwrecker, basically reported himself. :P

As long as you were good-willed all the way through that, you should have no problem, mate. :)

This.

I couldn't have said it any better.

Now, if only disney would suspend/ban violating players quicker though...
