We have a Ventrilo Server
Hello one and all,
For those that don't know me, I am Sam Skurvyskull and Waldo Wares in game. I have set up a Vent server for us and for a guild in another game I play. For those that know what Ventrilo is and know how to use it, please PM myself or the Captain for the login info. When you log in, please be sure to read the Message of the Day for rules. For those that don't keep reading. Ventrilo is a VoIP software. VoIP stands for Voice over Internet P??? If you have speakers, it allows you to hear others connected to the server and in the same channel as they talk. If you have a mic, or a headset with a mic, it allows you to talk, and others in the channel can hear you. It will make crewing up and getting larger tasks in the game easier to accomplish, as instead of typing out, "We will be going for the level 30 Galleon on the right," or, "Hold your fire," you can say it. Basic Installation and set-up instructions for PC and Mac users can be found here: http://www.typefrag.com/support/documents/ Once you have it installed and configured to connect to our server, there are still a few changes you need to make. Click the setup button on the right, and then on the left hand side you will see an option for a push-to-talk hotkey. It is very important that you use this, as we do not want to hear you breathing or your siblings/parents/roommates/spouses in the backround. I prefer the Left Ctrl button, though that may not work well in this game as it does something. You should also look in the top right of the same screen, and if your soundcard supports Direct Sound(most do, even on board sound cards) check the box from it, and then in the drop down box below, select your sound device. Do the same for the 2 boxes below that. Default will probably work for most users, though some may experience difficulties if they do not do this. Below those you will see 2 slider bars, one for Outbound Volume, and one for Inbound Volume. If people tell you are are too quiet or too loud, please adjust the Outbound Volume. If you are having difficulty hearing people, or they are too loud, you can adjust the Inbound Volume. If you have any further questions, you can post them here, ask me in game, or ask me on Ventrilo. Have fun and enjoy the server!! |
