My opinions about updates/ What I want updated.
Trading-in my opinion, this wont be coming for a while. Yes, yes, we all KNOW you are all dieing to have it in game, but I think it wouldnt great because when you get a legendary via looting, its not as impressive.
New weapons-Yes, yes, we all want this to happen but I highly doubt to happen this year, perhaps Spring 2012.... What I want updated. Be able to hold more then 3 ships. It would be great for when the Brigs came out, so we dont have to selll some of our ships. Abilty to type ship names- This would be great. In the mean time, while the ship name is getting approved, it could be called the type of ship. (War Sloop, War Frigate, etc.) Discuss @_@ |
I don't think trading will ever come out. Trading in online games is known to cause problems, and I'd much rather loot than recieve something through trading, because then I'd know that I earned it. And we don't really need new weapons. Disney are already dishing them out in codes, and we have some pretty cool famed/legendary weapons to get while looting. I'm pretty laid back about that update, but trading is a big no-no from me, unless Disney decide to let players trade certain things, but that could also cause problems, possibly making some players feel as if they're not as free to do what they like as they want to be.
I completely agree about the updates you do want. I have to choose between my war galleon and war sloop if I want the brig, and if Disney are going to put out new ships I would like it if they would also allow us to have more than three ships. Being able to type ship names would be useful also, as any combination of ship name has probably been done before, and I'd like something more original, that my pirate may become known for. I find that the updates most players are demanding (trading, Kraken, etc) really don't sound that good after you think about it. The two updates you suggested, among others, will always be useful to players of all levels. Some more wanted updates would benefit players quite a lot (like ship customization), but your idea for more than three ships hadn't even crossed my mind. Now I think about it, the ideas people such as you are coming up with now are far better than the ideas that have already been discussed. There are two updates that I would like the most, if you don't mind me sharing. 1. Stop players from randomly teleporting, with maybe a request box popping up asking if the player can teleport. It would help a lot of players. 2. A sort of bookmark totem. There could be a quest for it (or not), and when you recieve it, you can put it where you're standing, so if you have to get tonics or something and you're in a hard to reach place, you can just teleport back to where you last put your totem. But you only have one totem, and once you've put it in a specific area, it disappears from the last. It could also disappear when you log off. Well, there's what I think. :) |
I agree with Pixie. Although it would be nice, especially if you could trade between your own pirates. I do think you would run into issues with some people trading and wanting to recant after it's too late. Then come the issues with reports to Disney that they don't need. They need to focus on bug reports, not petty trading issues because a player regrets losing their legendary by choice or mistake.

I'd have to say that the only things I really would care about is being are what you said - holding more than 3 ships and typing ship names - as well as the first of Pixie's ideas, the randomly-teleporting one. Since we know ship customization and the Brig will be the next update, I don't really have to worry about that one anymore.
Trading would probably be just a waste of time since it would be abused way too much. And to be honest, like Pixie said, I'd rather feel like I earned the weapon. New weapons, I don't care about at all. That'll just be more weapons I'll never get. The Kraken, well, I just stopped caring about as well. These days, I prefer the high seas. I know the Kraken is probably a sea-related thing, but still, I'll be spending more time on land talking to people than actually preparing to fight it, most likely. Just my many thoughts. |
I don't want trading. Half of it would be items being sold through ebay, and the other half will be kids who don't know better being taken advantage of by other players.

I would like to see the developers review/fix/add the following:
1) Remove the "Rep Cap" for all weapons/mini games/notoriety features. 100 Rep max per enemy just takes too long to level one pirate up to 50. Besides, that means I would only want to level one pirate up to 50 because of how long it takes plus the repetition from slashing at the same enemy. Even the boss enemies give the same amount of Rep, which doesn't make sense. 2) More defense to make soloing through level 1-15 easier. Hard to level up when enemies take more than half your HP after fighting 1. It's a bad combo with the "Rep cap" too. 3) Fixed skills. Some skills like "Shrapnel" and "Dodge" effects aren't working in the current patch. I would like them to review all skills and assure us that they are 100% functional. 4) Panda 3D graphics card optimizations. I cannot stress this enough. On a modern day graphics card, Pirates Online still can't run at a solid 30+ FPS on the highest graphic settings. My thoughts on the trading system: Some players could be taken advantage of by others, such as giving away a legendary weapon to someone who is falsely claiming it's "one of the worst weapons in the game", that and scam. - Ice_Storm |
Oh, thought of a good one!
Add Governor Swann, perhaps a quest to find him, hmmm...? Continue Disscussing. @_@ |
Trading is not a good idea. Looting is a major part of the game, if trading is ever released I'm sure it will disappoint all those players who earned their weapons by themselves.

Well with most people on this thread against Trading for the reason of not earning the weapons, you have to consider that, (unless the person you're trading with isn't the sharpest knife in the cabinet) you have to trade something more or less equal to what you're getting. So you still have to work at looting to eventually get the weapons that you want, even if they are through trading. I completely agree with the other ideas people have been submitting, especially the new weapons. They released the inventory, then new dolls, then new daggers, then... more swords? Then they spiraled off in the direction of the Queen Anne's Revenge and Scoundrels. Forget about the staves, Disney (and the grenades, but they aren't even in the files.)? And the ship names too. I would love to see some of the creativity players would have with naming their ships (although, knowing some people, there would be a few "Epic Ship X"s on the sea), but instead, every ship has to be named something generic like Lightning Albatross.

I think the trading Famed and Legendary will drop its quality in finding it and being proud of finding something like that after hard work. I think trading will be a bad idea, I have played other MMO and people beg and beg.

The cap is 100 per weapon per enemy plus crew bonus. So it is possible to get alot at once. I think POTCO would be fine with trading you could always ignore the players spamming for a trade. What POTCO really needs is to greatly expand the area and add alot more quests somewhere around 200-300.

No new ship slots. We have always had a ship slot for every type of ship. With the upcoming update, you have to pick, which may open some's eyes to what ship they NEED, and which ship they show off with.

Do you know what I would like?
I'd like someone to spell check the new Guild names :P Apart from that I'd like to see the top end of the game extended... just little simple things like more clothing, jewelry and tattoos even if it is far more expensive, it could also be a greater variety of pvp or svs clothing, also perhaps some more areas of multiple high level land enemies - even if they just changed the levels of the existing enemies now and then, that would add some variety - quests like the Adoria one on Padres ( Barbossa's clothes ) because I don't mind long quests if the reward is a bit unique and worth having...... I think trading is not a very good idea for looting plundering pirate hordes but perhaps some other skills that could be learnt in addition to fishing and potions...... ship repair springs to mind immediately.
