NPC crews?

One of the other games I play, Star Trek Online, allows you to have NPC bridge officers that you customize both in appearance as well as skills and equipment. You then control these characters like pets in combat, with a limited set of commands.

What would you think of a system like this in Pirates? Obviously this would be completely optional and nothing you would have to do if you didnt want to. What do you think :dancetl6:

I'm not sure I'd want NPC's on my ship or playing with me unless none of my friends or Guild were on. It takes the human element out of the game. I think human interaction is a huge part of the game. In fact without it, I wouldn't be playing. So..... I'd have to say I wouldn't be interested.

I would have to agree with Aka.

I think that if we were able to have crews aboard our ships, it would take away the need for friends, guilds, etc. for a large group of pirates. The point of sailing is that you're supposed to make friends through interaction with others, so you can survive together - and while I speak from the perspective of a Guildmaster with a large group of very loyal friends, it should go the same for lonesome pirates who I definitely encourage to put themselves out there.

POTCO is not really a game for you to solo - you'll find out that when you're mastered and you've done everything the game has to offer, if you don't have friends, you'll find yourself at a lose. So, the human element is and always will be the major factor in POTCO, because without it this game would not be the same.
