Journey of the Last of the Bladebearers Chapter 4
 

Chapter 4: Delmaria Darkskull and William Goldwalker

As Gastro, Jack, and Mark were strolling through the empty land to get to Delmaria's shack, Jack found a piece of gold on the ground. He quickly picked it up, thinking that collecting gold will help pay off the boys' debts.

Just after Jack picked up the gold piece, a man said, "Oi! Who would steal my gold?"
The man looked like he'd been in a lot of adventures. He looked in good shape, too. He wore a dark ostrich hat, a dark long coat, and some dark boots. He also wore a gold belt.

"I knew some pirate would eventually come to steal me gold. But, mostly, I thought it'd be you, Gastro. Turns out it be this lad. I set the gold piece so you would eventually find me." Gastro looked up and said, "Del? What are you doing out of the shack? We were supposed to meet there." The man was Delmaria Darkskull. He had been out on this empty land all this time!

The group made their way to Delmaria's shack, passing some cunning crabs, but Del and Gastro eventually fought them off, so they wouldn't hurt the boys.

As they entered the small shack, Delmaria sat down at his desk. "The reason I was out on the empty land was because I was beginning to grow worried that you wouldn't return. Now, who are these two boys here?" Gastro introduced Jack and Mark and explained that their town was destroyed. He also explained that they are the last two Bladebearers.

Delmaria stood up and said, "The bladebearers? May I see their blades?"

Jack unsheathed his blade and Delmaria inspected it. He firmly said, "So, it is just like the legend. Jack here has the Wizard's Curse Blade. It it said that it wields magic."

Mark unsheathed his blade, and Delmaria carefully inspected it. He said, "Ah, and this is the Warrior's Hammer Blade. This blade wields great strength."

Gastro then concluded, "Then, they are the other Bladebearers."

Jack and Mark exclaimed happily, "Other?! There are more?"

Gastro nodded, "Yes, there are. The other two are me and Delmaria. My blade is the Defender's Shield. It wields great defense. And Delmaria's..."

Delmaria continued from Gastro, "...is the Blade of Knowledge. It wields great wisdom and grants the wielder great wisdom as well."

Suddenly, a man came out from the kitchen of the shack. "Del, the cannonballs are ready and cooked."

Jack questionably replied, "Um, you can cook cannonballs? How is that possible?"

The man replied back, "Yeah, you can. And out of soot and explosives. Stir them well."

Mark was writing down this recipe, due to his stupidity.

Delmaria then greeted, "Ahoy, William! So, they're finished? Excellent. Boys, meet William Goldwalker. He is one of my fellow officers."

William Goldwalker introduced himself, "Yes, the name is William Goldwalker. But, you can call me Will. Just like you can call Delmaria here Del. And, you can call Gastro here... well, Gas." Mark and Jack chuckled at this.

Gastro then interrupted, "ANYway, we're gonna need to defeat Jolly. He's been causing lots of trouble." Del said, "That's why you've been delayed?" Gastro nodded. "He's after the Stone of Immortality. He's also tracking down the last of the Bladebearers, us, and trying to kill us."

Del said, "Mates, it's action time." William added, "Fail, Del."

Jack and Mark hopped in delight as they were excited for their new adventure.
