Cannoning Crashing My COmputer
for the last few days while in the middle of big battles with Dreadnoughts and Juggernaughts ill be cannoning on other ships and in the middle my computer will completely lock up and i have to manually power it down and back on and when Xp starts back up i have a computer serious error recovery message anyone else here having this issue
|
this could be caused by various things including faulty memory, faulty PSU, faulty MOBO or just by a faulty game so it can be quite hard to diagnose without looking at the computer qand event logs and running the dump logs through a debugger and even then it can be hard to make sense of them.
do you have any issues with other games, have you upgraded your graphics card and if so what Wattage PSU do you have?, do you overclock your graphics card / CPU? things to try would be the usual culprits - upgrade your graphics drivers, update directx ( often missed out when graphics drivers upgraded ) and bit more dangerous as could kill the mobo :) - update your motherboard firmware. also does the issue occur when you lower the graphics detail? |
well ive been playing for a month and never had it happen till the last week funny thing is its only happened when im on with a certain friend:laughks2:
but my videos cards are good |
Graphics cards and memory can work loose due to heating and cooling of parts so I would still sugest 'carefully' removing the momory and graphics card and reseating it just to make sure.
have you got any high spec games you can try out to see if any of them crash out if none of above probably just POTC :laughks2: |
I have had this issue as well. Its Video related - I got the "video memory almost used up" from POTC Support, but who knows as their suport is spotty at best... and I don't rate it even that good.
I reviewed the logs myself and along with my testing different vid cards its more of a guess (though I hear more ATI users or low memory cards have more problems than other cards). I wouldn't be using the crappy card I use now if my good ATI card would work with the gam e- but that card doesn't even allow me to sail (crashes when boarding), and POTC Support hasn't answered that one - three months later... Good luck though, I hope your problem doesn't cause too many issues for ya - I just reset and keep sailing :) |
well i kinda used my own fix play in full screen mode it hasnt happened to me since
odd thet the game runs better in full screen mode than it does in windowed |
Yea dont run it in window mode because it end up taking up too much of your memory on your computer which end up making it freeze up and even crash! Its happen to me many times befor when playing on window mode!
