"Pottermore is an exciting new experience from J.K. Rowling based around the Harry Potter books. It is FREE to join and use, and is designed to be safe for people of all ages." Users will be sorted into Houses, receive wands, and can unlock certain bits of information.
For the next seven days, from July 31st to August 6th (day 1 of registration is now closed), a clue will be posted on the Pottermore front page -- answer correctly (and quickly), and you'll gain early access to Pottermore. Each clue will relate to a different book in the HP series (for example, the clue for day 1 [today] was related to Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - the first book). Pottermore will open to the public in October. More information on early access and clues can be found on the Pottermore Insider blog.

Sounds confusing what exactly is it? A mmo? Or just a forums website? I'm confused...

I got in. Hellooooo JK Rowling. I think it's essentially a site where JK Rowling starts posting the little details that only the author knows about the story, and where the fans get to ask their questions more directly. http://i54.tinypic.com/ngzhug.jpg

It's kind of like a companion to the Harry Potter books. You get to read parts of chapters (or even full chapters, not sure yet) from the books, and find bits of background information. That's all we really know for now, but there's bound to be more than just that. For example:
As you can see, you can add other people as friends, collect potions and spells (not sure what you can do with them yet), go to your common room, etc.

Thanks for sharing! I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I think the last movie was awesome. Saw it in IMAX 3D. I read the books so this new web site may tie in some of the loose ends.
I was always curious if J.K. Rowling had some scripts for prequels. She could easily make another 4-5 movies that cover Harry's parents as kids, Snape growing up, Tom Riddle becoming corrupt.....etc. Not sure if she has considered it....but I bet some fans have already asked.

I bet some fans have already written it themselves. :laughks2: The second clue came out last night, this one being "In which chapter did Professor McGonagall cancel the Quidditch match between Hufflepuff and Gryffindor? Multiply this answer by 42." Talk about a crazed frenzy to look for the right chapter... and then it turns out the link to the American version didn't even work properly! It kept freezing and the screen wouldn't come up completely. We had to go to the German version of the site instead! It all worked in the end. If you want early access for Pottermore, better get out there and find that feather, mates!

Hey everyone, is it worth signing up early, despite never reading a Harry Potter book and only seeing the first two films? :P Then I could say that I'd got into Pottermore when it began... and I am hoping to get into the books at some point.
I probably won't be able to answer the clue, for the above reason, but is it worth a look?

What was the 4th day clue, Aka? I know that the 3rd was
Quote:
In the Gryffindor versus Slytherin Quidditch match, in Harry's third year, how many points is Gryffindor leading by before Harry catches the Golden Snitch?
Multiply this number by 35.
And yah, DP, I'd say get on, just for the heck of it.

How many students were in the Triwizard Tournament? Answer (4) multiplied by 28 and added to the end of a URL to get to early sign up page.
