Kinda dumb about Notoriety Rep

Ok I know we can only level up each weapon to 25 so far but on the weapons we have mastered we get no notoriety rep?????????? we should still get that its kinda meaningless to kill a lvl 38 enemy on tormenta with Mastered Weapon and get no rep

this needs fixed

Pirate Rose 01-19-2008 05:25 AM

Yup, it's been that way for a little while now :)

mrcharisma316 01-19-2008 05:38 AM

yeah i pmed tehc about it :laughks2:

Chris 01-19-2008 06:22 AM

well i kinda understand why they did this

1. if u mastered a weapon and u could still get notority well then there would be no notority cap because getting notority would be never ending

2. like someone metioned u get to learn and use all of your weapons

mrcharisma316 01-19-2008 08:18 AM

i still would use all my weapons but i mean if i get in a jam and i need to use my life drain no overall notoriety is kinda lame

Pirate Rose 01-19-2008 08:21 AM

Think about how you'll feel when everything is maxed lol. I'm just about there, the only thing I have to level is grenades (lv24 right now). So when I do anything, I don't get rep. But it's fine, I still enjoy the game and hanging out with guild mateys, and making new pirates.

Shhlatkinz 01-19-2008 03:16 PM

I like that update. Of course, I and everyone else who didn't have the chance to max a weapon and get extra notoriety easily before the update has it a lot harder now (no disrespect to those who hit notoriety 40 before it). Now it forces you to max 6 out of 7 weapons. Now you can't just train voodoo easily and get 3 notoriety levels a day training voodoo. People are forced to train the grenades. And that's where it really seperates the dedicated from the not-so dedicated.

mrcharisma316 01-20-2008 12:25 AM

yeah they edited the notoriety thing to hit 40 id have to max everything which is cool but u shoudl still get some rep

Shhlatkinz 01-20-2008 12:41 AM

I think it would be fair to be able to get 35% of what you would normally get for a mastered weapon. For example, if you use voodoo, and get 100 rep, 70 of that rep would be taken away. Kinda like texes, lol... although I wouldn't know :dancetl6:

mrcharisma316 01-20-2008 04:18 AM

they should just put an expansion to youre overall lv and weapoms higher anyways

CoolWindu 01-20-2008 05:31 AM

I agree totally

Maybe we're just gluttons for punishment, Shhlatkinz, but I like it, too. :)

I think the benefit of mastering a weapon is that you have a powerful weapon with 25 skill pts on it somewhere, and can use it when you need to. But, since you can kill most anything with relative ease, it's not all that notable that you can. At least not in the same sense that killing a level 30 enemy with a level 10 or even 20 weapon is.

I don't know how they do it in similar games, but this way makes perfect sense to me.

mrcharisma316 01-20-2008 11:20 AM

but you both hit 40 when u had notoriety given to mastered weapons:buds:

Not even close. I chose to get some of the more difficult weapons to master out of the way first, and I hadn't even mastered my first weapon before they quit giving you notoriety on a weapon after mastering it. In fact, I was surprised to hear that we were able to in the first place! That explained how some people were getting to 40 quicker than I thought was possible. They had mastered and continued to use the doll and/or staff.

It was a long time after the update before I hit 40, and it was just a day or two earlier than me that Shhlatkinz had.

The only thing I had mastered was doll when this changed. I was still several levels away from 40. I think it was changed to slow people down. You don't need doll or a mastered weapon to get to noteriety 40. This makes us use all of our weapons, and makes us level all of our weapons. Looking back, I'm glad I had to level my weapons and master most before I became a pirate master.

You can kill a lv 38 or 40 enemy on tormenta without using a mastered weapon. Work with a guild matey and take turns healing each other, or use a weapon, and bring out our doll to heal yourself. Or stick to the molusks and brinescum. There's lots of ways to work it.

Think of it this way, if you want to be a pirate master, you need to master your weapons first :p
