Skeleton Ship Quest

I'm completely stuck on the "Recover cursed wood from Skeleton Ship" quest. It's quite annoying always dying while trying to take it down. And nobody seems to want to help. Anyone on here willing to help a gal out? I'm only at level 6 with sailing. :/

It has to be to the left of Padres Del Fuego if your sailing TO the island, the left.

try cannoning it from afar and kill it before it gets in firing range :)

Hang in there. I remember it took me several days to complete this task.

Your best bet is to crew on a bigger ship. Just stand out on the Tortuga docks and keep announcing that you need to sink a skellie. Even change servers, if need be. It might take awhile, but it'll happen. (I actually got into my Guild that way, which was an added benefit.)

If you decide to take it on yourself, you probably should be sailing a regular Galleon or Frigate. The light ships just don't have the firepower or protection you're gonna need. Try to attack it from the rear, as they cannot shoot behind them. Going at it broadside will almost certainly spell your doom.

If you manage to hit it a few times but still sink, run out of jail, repair your ship, and sail back out to it. You'll find a much weakened ship, and will have a much better chance to take it down.

Good luck!

Leveling up your sailing skill can do wonders. Also what ship are you trying to sink it with? A light sloop? At least have a medium Frigate.

Well, I was doing it with a Light Frigate. I finally got someone on board with me and they helped me take it down. We stuck to the "stick to the the back of the ship" and we took it down! Thanks for all the help. I will definitely being posting again if I need help. :]

Just an FYI:
When I was at this task at the beginning I was able to sink skeletons with only my light sloop. The trick is to keep at the back of their ships as mentioned above. Keep turning. Matter of fact, I like the sloop at all levels best. Just works well for my sailing style I guess.
