Most of what passes for "legitimate" Vodou in books, hollywood movies and popular culture, is actually the magicobotanical practice of Hoodoo, which is not a religion, and also has its origins in West Africa where it was a fully developed and very powerful tradition borne to specific ethnic lineage's gifted with the spirits to practice it correctly. HOODOO, though not a religion, is the "folk magic" of the common people in West Africa, just as it is in the diaspora today. From socalled "love potions," to taking vegenace upon an enemy, Hoodoo is largely what has survived the religious presecution of the Africans enslaved in the New World. Additionally, due to the laws passed perventing the African from practicing any African based tradition, "Hoodoo" (known as Ggbo in West Africa) was forced to undergo the same superficial transformation as did the Vodou religion (in which they hid their gods behind Catholic Saints). Hoodoo blended with acceptable Native American & European folklore and practice, but the actual methods and power behind it remained completely African.
^^ Sorry if that information is incorrect, or if it is against site rules or anything. If It is, I'll et a mod remove this comment because i'm still not sure how to...... |
The POF trivias are superior in so many ways. They can do better.... And why are they making stuff about the game and not make stuff for the actual game?

Well all the question are answered, here are the winners:
UPDATE 6/23/11: See below for the quickest correct answers to this "Savvy" challenge. Question #4 proved to be tricky for many Pirates - there are eight Jumbee horrors total aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge: Jumbee Cook, Jumbee Thrall, Jumbee Swabbie, Jumbee Lookout, Jumbee Thug, Jumbee Officer, Jumbee Thralldriver, and last but in no way the least, their brutal Boss La Schafe! But when you're surrounded by deadly Jumbee, who has time to count? We salute these savvy Pirates who sailed in fastest with all ten answers exactly right: * Jamie the Second - Guild Master of The Cursed Flame Guild, Level 33 * Captain Kill Joy - Dark Archive Guild, Level 24 * Bess Mcscarlett - Original Sin Guild, Level 49 * Sam Seabones - Skull's Marines Guild, Level 31 And right on their heels: * Jason Lockbane - Shadow Sorcerors Guild, Level 40 * Aquablade - Guild Master of Ocean Born Guild, Level 38 * Billy Foulfury - Level 47 Due to such a huge response, we could not possibly post everyone who answered correctly. Our apologies if your name was not posted this time around, but Roberta Roberts and Caymen Trench congratulate ALL Pirates whose answers matched and look forward to the next challenge. Many thanks to all Pirates who participated - you have all once again "proved yer worth"! Grats to Jason (HammytheSquirrel)!!!!! But Sorcerors is spelled wrong... 0_o |
HOW DARE THEY! They shall hear from me... I am insulted....
Congratulations to all of you that won, especially to Mr. Lockbane (HammyTheSquirrel) for doing so well! Always fun to have your name on the site. Even if the guild is spelled wrong.... |
Isn't that the right spelling? rofl. if you actually read the news post, it said for us to add the Guild and notoriety level. xD Thanks, guys!
EDIT: oh wait, Sharky changed it. :D I'm gonna see this..... DOUBLE EDIT: oh.... that may have been a typo by me. ;) Otherwise, they obviously just retyped the names of guilds and pirates (and the poster had a typo...). |
