Sharing your wealth
People have mentioned giving/sharing gold with other players by playing cards.
Both players keep raising the pot until the NPCs fold, then the player "giving" the gold folds and lets their partner win (at least that's what I understood from what I read). Is this something you can do in the PvP Parlor Games, or just at a table in one of the taverns? I tried it once with my daughter who needed gold (aren't I a nice mom?) We both kept betting and raising, but the NPCs never folded. Then all of a sudden everyone was showing their cards and we had both lost to one of the NPCs. I felt really bad, because I could afford to lose, but my daughter couldn't - I think we each lost around 2K in that one hand - so we haven't tried it since. Any hints/tips on how this can work would be greatly appreciated. |
Typically, if they don't fold within the first card shown, they're going to stay in; so fold. I've found that switching oceans helps a lot. NPC's didn't fold for two rounds, any of them, so I switched, and they all folded on the first bet.
Definitely don't go on the hope that you can beat them. If they raise you, they have something. If they continue to raise you, they definitely have something good. |
This is what I have been doing.
1st round - Raise once. If all the NPC's fold then YAY!. If they don't all fold, I'll call. 2nd round - Raise once. If they call I fold and wait for the next hand. Usually after this raise, all the NPC's are out, since some of them had already folded in the first round. Once they've all folded either in 1st or 2nd round, then we do the normal call betting until the 6th card is shown. This is when we start raising, raising, raising lol. When I've given the amount of money requested, I'll then fold, and they get the winnings. Good luck :) |
Thanks for the tips, Rose and Dan - I suck at poker in general, so it helps alot to know what to watch for.
Do you know if you have any NPCs in the game when you do PvP Parlor Games? I was thinking that might be a way to play with just you and a couple of friends, but I haven't been able to test it out because it never finds a match. |

Why does that not surprise me? The only people I know who've gotten into PvP Parlor Games are people who got thrown in there when they were trying to play Mayhem or have a skirmish with another player.
I don't know what criteria the game uses to find a "match" for either type of PvP, but it needs some work. |
Well I wish someone would do that for me! lol, I'm trying to buy a Frigate.

I've recently tried doing this, and it wont let the pot get big anymore. What happens is if the pot gets around 9k or so, it'll automatically end the hand, and the highest hand will win.
Atleast that's the experience I had the last time I tried. I've shared my wealth numerous times, so I know how to do it. I think they changed it so we can't share any longer :( |
