best weapon for pvp?
ok so with infamy now out I have been trying to lvl up on it but I have no idea wat weapons would be best so far I have found that the best was doll but I am sick and tired of people yelling at me for it then I thought daggers but I can't hit anyone when there jumping all over the place (like everyone does now cause they think its cool) so what do you guys think is the best weapon for pvp??????
|
Dolls are frowned upon by most ye found out. Jumpers can be bested by a good broad sword. Use vipers nest for a bump in damage as ye close in for the face to face fight. Mayhem is up close and personal. Team any range weapon is good to soften up ye foe before crushing them at close range with a blade. Good luck!
Just ask for the rules before entering a match. I say there are no rules when ye jump in the lookout for a match, but that's just me. I have ways dealing with dolly users muhaha! |
Yes, don't use dolls in PvP. People really get mad, including me. I'll tell you the truth, people that use dolls in PvP are the ones that are too afraid to fight the person up close and resort to running away and not letting their opponent get to them.
Anyway, I find that the best weapons are broadswords. You can hit multiple opponents with them, and its hard to miss with one, not to mention they do good damage. I also usually use my Silver Freeze, because I can throw lots of quick daggers and deal quick damage. My Vipers Nest and Sidewinder are also maxed, so that deals loads of damage. Broadswords and throwing knives. Maybe carry a doll if you want to do a life drain to save your life, but most people do blades only. |
I don't see a problem with dolls, I mean it's Pirate Vs. Pirate, doll is a standard weapon so it annoys me when peoples say it's cheating. It's really not, you're allowed to use whatever weapon you want. And there are ways to shake off the attunement, running away, or using dagger. The best weapon would be either doll or broadsword, for me.

I would use a musket loaded with steel shot to weaken or kill them from a distance. If they get close after that use a broadsword to finish them. Using a voodoo doll is fine. If someone tries to use one on you use viper's nest or asp to stop them.

Having learned how to PvP eons ago, I'm still not sure whether I know everything that's the common protocol these days - but, I think I've got it down.
First, as soon as you enter a match, try and work out a rule system. Keep it short - "Blades only?" means a match for only swords and daggers, "Anything goes?" means.. well, anything goes, "No jumping" means none of that crazy jumping business, etc. Of course, if your opponent chooses to ignore the rules, feel free to assume they are abandoned and go ballistic. (Unless you're the "honorable type" and stick with the rules anyway - but, who really believes in an honorable pirate? ;)) My weapon of choice, as others have suggested, is the broadsword, which I usually use regardless of the match type (except, of course, when the match calls for their banishment, to which I sob to heavily.) They're very good for being able to move around your opponent, yet still manage to hit them. It's also good to keep in your belt some throwing knives, and good gun (pistol or repeater, and maybe a musket or bayonet - blunderbusses are a hit or die situation.) But, other than that, the only thing I really can suggest is learn to move around your enemy. You don't necessarily have to jump, but learn how to move around while fighting. I'm positive I'm not the only one who can around here - there are plenty of pirates with all types of fighting styles out there. Try and see if you can get them to help you out, because strategy above all is key in PvP. |
I personally like to fight the anything goes matches, I dont care what weapons people use ( and would rather see doll users than pistol spam) My belt consists of Barracuda Blade ( great pvp broadsword ) a buccaneer blunder ( take aim boost makes it charge take aim quick ) assassins throwing knives ( big bonus to vipers nest and asp = great quick damage for weakened pirates or breaking attunement) and Hex Guardian Doll ( bonus to life drain)
Sure, people like to call people " Noob " for using all of the weapons in their belt, and i feel it is uncalled for and kind of rude. I feel it is kind of ironic when people call you a noob after you have won the match. So if your comfortable getting out that doll and draining life, go for it! Bottom line is everybody has a method, do what you feel best doing, and dont worry about people saying your cheating, if pvp was meant to be swords only, then POTCO would not let you use anything else! |
The way I play is blades, no brawl. Just my El patron and Silver Freeze. I first use adder and sidewinder to kill his health while I'm killing him. Then I take vipers nest to kill him more (all of these skills should be rank 5)
Then I start with the El Patron. I use the "q" and "e" arrows to jump. After PvPing with a guild mate yesterday I realized I cannot win as a basic. I cannot use dagger, nor can I use "flourish" or "thrust" Also the three skills I can use have one point on them. It's notthat great :/ Anyway I hoped this helps! |
Weapons?
I do love the Bitter End... charged up you can instantly freeze at close range - then have a field day on someone. Broadswords I truly love for Mayhem! This amazon can go all Xena Warrior Princess and hack and slash several folks at the same time. Daggers and Throwing knifes have an advantage of breaking attunement and aiming and great for medium range before having to switch to your sword. In handguns, though not a repeater - the Sacred Pistol is LETHAL. Loaded with Silver bullets and using Eagle Eye and Sharpshooter you can do massive damage in a single gun shot. And I am old school about voodoo dolls... too easy to tag and run. If you're going to play dolls, I will put a lead ball through your noggin... preferably a Hex Eater round. |

Anyways, I personally don't mind dolls to an extent. If you're 20 levels below me and just need to get a damage bonus to have a fair chance, I'll deal with it. If you're a level 50 and have a overpowered doll that wipes me out with one Life Drain? I think it's unfair at that point. My favorite weapons for PvP are Bitter End, a good broadsword, a repeater with a Silver Shot boost, ideally, (I personally use a Holy Repeater. I forgot what the benefits are, but it works really well,) and a good set of throwing daggers. I find staff takes too long to charge, unless you manage not to get noticed before you can charge it in Mayhem, at which point.... it's awesome. Especially Desolation if you REALLY manage to not get noticed, and doll seems unfair, as half the time I'm going up against level 12 and 13 pirates who thought it would be fun to challenge me. Grenades are entirely useless in PvP. |
i use dolls against jumpers. and anyone else. Why not? i earned it fair and square and i will and want to use it when i want to. Besides. if you don't like dolls get some throwing knives out and attack. Yes, i do run and use doll. Why not? Its the best way to use that weapon.
I use my silver freeze to close distance, and when i'm close i get my dread spike out and totally destroy. If a group of people are fighting, or one swords men with a high attack sword is charging from a long distance . |
