Idea for a new weapon
Hi! I was thinking about new weapons, and I was looking at a trailer to some POTC game. It showed a person throwing an anchor to the enemys. So I thought we could have a anchor weapon!
What do you think of it? I might add some skills for it, and you can add your own ideas for it if you want to! |
It would be an interesting idea... sorta like an anchor on a chain that you could swing around maybe? It would be cool, but I'm not sure how it would work...
|
I think it would be cool, but not really sure what skills/attacks it could have.
|
Ah man i think those cannon num-chucks that the davy jones crewman used in the second movie would be BEAST! But anchor...Im not sure the pirate could like hold that. Closest think to an anchor though is a grenade.
|
The game really isnt sopposed to be realistic, and it really isnt. So why cant a pirate hold an anchor?
(Btw, it would be neat to see that weapon also you mentioned) |
The anchor weapon is from Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned. The game was cancelled just months before release. It was basically going to be like Fable. Doubt you will see something like that in POTCO.
But, the developers appear to be working on new sword types and possibly boarding axes as well. Be curious to see. Axes were a common weapon among historical pirates, and apparently a number of noted women buccaneers preferred them to swords. |
So your saying an anchor weapon wouldnt be allowed?
|
Im saying they likely wont be doing it. It was for a platform game, not the online game. Any kind of flail or chained weapon would likely be too hard for POTCO to do.
|
True, they did use swords. They also used spears and pikes and like others said, axes when boarding ships, witch POTCO should add. I think what POTCO is put them in their own class like POTCO did with saber, broadsword and cutlass.
I'd love to walk around with a huge a double bladed war axe. and dress in all black, set my head on fire and scare people :D |
What about a bow and arrow? I think that would a fun weapon. :)
|
See guys, the thing about chain weapons you swing would be the amount of time and resources to be able to get it to swing like that on demand.
Witht he bow and arrow, it seems to un-piratey to use. But if they do put it in I think you could aim it with the mosue, click a little button and pull back for the distance, or hold down and aim like Long-volley skill. |
My Ideas:
Pikes were cheap ways to reach across bulwarks to kill the crewman of a grappled ship, but they were obsolete by 1700 and unwieldy on a ship. So, scratch that. Axes were common and could be found on ships to cut lines and grapples, so they were definitely used by pirates and I could imagine them in game. Scimitars are Arab and North African swords resembling cutlasses, so Barbary Pirates could have used them. They could be released alongside xebec ships. Rapiers were much more common than sabres and more lightweight, but they are essentially the same viewed from an in-game standpoint. Mortars and Howitzers were fastened aboard era ships, and I would love to see them released with their own skills and ammo (IE: Quicklime Shells, which essentially rained fire onto the target). Fastening pins were aplenty onboard ships and could be used as an improvised weapon. They were blunt wooden objects resembling half of a rolling pin used to tie down rigging. However, I wouldn't see the point in putting them in-game. |
Belaying pins used like batons were common weapons because they were everywhere. You could just grab one. Which brings an interesting question about whether they could be added but since all players carry some form of weapon - having a belaying pin on your belt seems unneeded.
Once they add Scimitars and Rapiers, I would like to see Katanas and Jians added. This would go well if they all added junks to the ship list. |
Yes I like the idea of Pikes.
|
I'd live to have an Xebc and an Arab sword (witch, by the way are some of the best, of not THE best) but sadly some people may get offended.
