You need a particular program, gamecam is a good one but for real use you need to pay. Hypercam works well and it's free if you don't mind a really small banner on the top of your videos

I am not familiar with any in game video recording applications compatible with the Mac OS System.

For Macs? I think IMovie has a recording system built in it, but its been a while since I had a Mac.
