Treasure Island
In honor of the new site, I've started rereading Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. It's been ages since I last read it, so I don't really remember all that happens. I'm up to about the fourth chapter.
What do you guys think of the book? If sailor tales to sailor tunes, Storm and adventure, heat and cold, If schooners, islands, and maroons And Buccaneers are burried Gold, And all the old romance, told Exactly in the ancient way, Can please, as me they pleased of old, the wiser youngsters of today: - So be it, and fall on! If not, If studious youth no longer crave, His ancient appetites forgot, Kingston, or Ballantyyne the brave, Or Cooper of the wood and wave: So be it, also! And may I and all my pirates share the grave where these and their creations lie! |
I never read it...I'm more of a "don't read the classics, but know they exist" kind of guy. One of these days I plan on reading some of these books, lol.
Actually, i read a few pages of Treasure Island back in 2003. |
I recently went on a Pirate's book
shopping spree and bought it. I still have not read most of it, but for right now it is pretty interesting and entertaining. :) |
Sorry for the... almost month bump, but I've read the book. It was actually pretty good, the beggining was hard at first, but it got really good. They made a remake movie of it in the early 2000s, I watched it, it was really cool. The ending was really weak, though... :-/
