End of El Patron quest.
So if your sword is already mastered at the end of El Patron quest where you get swords, why not give a variety of choices like a awesome gun or a voodoo doll?:sadmh9:

They do that because they are better swords, not because you still need to level them. Swords are STILL a big part of the game, even after they are mastered.

To add onto CM... its also supposed to give you your first Cursed BLADE.
To add on to another add on... It also serves as a treasure unlock. So, would you rather never have any Cursed Blades, or a mediocre weapon of another type? (The first cursed blades aren't too good...) |
Two reasons: Lore, and Sense.
El Patron was supposedly a famed Spanish conquistador that traveled the Caribbean, collecting rare weapons to add to his collect. He favored four blades in particular: The Lost Sword of El Patron, which was his personal blade, and the three Cursed Blades that you find in the chest, which we often used in battle. The story goes that by defeating El Patron, you get access to his own weapon's of choice. In the realm of common sense, like the others said, the quest is to unlock the Cursed Blades as a loot drop. It wouldn't make sense if you are rewarded a voodoo doll for a quest that unlocks a new type of sword. |
I think it would make the most sense if you actually got The Lost Sword when you defeat El Patron. I mean...found him, killed him, took his sword and got the t-shirt to show for it. :)

That would be good Mary, but then the Lost Sword would not be valuable at all. It is a Legendary Weapon, and if everyone gets it.... it loses it's value. That is why everyone loves to loot. People are in awe when they see people with Famed/Legendary weapons, and if everyone gets one of Legendary weapons, it isn't so"Legendary" anymore.
