I finally broke down and started playing Pirates. It has been fun so far, but I am starting to wonder if it is a waste of time without a paid account. Are there any other members who have been playing longer with a free account who can tell me whether the game is worth playing for an extended period without a paid account?

Well I played the game (not sure if it was full version on beta 2) and I thought it was pretty good. Graphics are good and the way you can level stuff is kind of fun too. IMO I would get the full game on Open but I can't afford it so I usually play on test.

Hi gray!.. I'm not sure if it worths to play without paying.. You won't be able to level up and unlock all the weapons, complete all the quests, etc.
If I could I'd pay

From what I understand when you play basic/free, there are advertisments on the screen, and you don't get full screen. Also your quests, skill, and noteriety levels are very limited.

Pirates is a very fun game, and has basically taken me away from VMK. :dancetl6:

Sadly, I think I have reached the end of the available quests for the free game. I have about 5 quests active, but they all show a lock by them and whenever I actually accomplish something for them, I get the "upgrade" pop-up.
It is such a pity, too. The game seems like a lot of fun, but I have no plans to pay for it so I guess I am done.

5 bucks for a months of fun too much?

:(

I was under the impression that the paid accounts were $10 a month, not $5. Regardless, my problem is not over the amount that I would be required to pay, but just the idea of paying. I just think that if I paid for the game, I would feel obligated to play a lot more than I really have time for. It is just a simple matter of priorities for me, I have things that take a much higher level of precedence in my life over Pirates Online. Maybe in the future if the game is still active and I have more time, I will pay to play.

Your correct the first month it's only 5. So you have 30 days to decide of you like the game enough to advance further (ie. bigger ships. voodoo dolls ect.) after that it's 10

80 dollars per year 120 dollars total monthly in a year

meaning every month 10 dollars 1 year 120 dollars if you take yearly 80 dollars a year..

yearlys cheaper
